Hi guys wink Im Kenyan, Living in norway, and this is my first post grin.
I really enjoyed reading, and seeing your pictures. But mostly the pictures because, you know what they say, a picture is worth a thousand words smiley

I wish i could contribute in pictures, but i live waaay up north near the Arctic, and have not been to Kenya in ~ four years.

Guys, I can see you have put in tremendous effort to showcase the best of your country, congratz, and I wish more people did the same. I never really saw Kenya the way you portray it.  I had never seen a single picture of a clean street or half modest building before this thread, and  the only reason I even decided to try and find something positive in my native country is because i knew it could not possibly be as bad as they presented it in the media. Thank you very much for restoring my faith in my country, and I can definitely see massive improvements from when I left. I don’t know why we don’t have our own website though  undecided
I think this, and the stuff on skyscraper city is enough to start a website. Seriously though, we should get ourselves organised, contact a provider and set up a dedicated server of our own.
Then we wont get bashed by the Nija men, nagging about how nairaland is not for Kenyan affairs. And, as much as i hate to admit it, they have a point. Although I would love it if this was turned from "nairaland" to "afriland", this website was set up for nigerian stuff. I don’t mind if we get a website that has adverts on the sidebars, or if it has to rely on all of us donating money to keep it alive, or even if we just put the stuff on a pre - existing Kenyan website, But i personally would like a place where we can all post in peace, without worrying about other people coming to us and telling us to stop doing this or that. I have a friend I can contact to talk about the options we have to set up a server, but you all can also do some searching on the internet, and we can make a plan about what to do next.
My name on skyscrapercity is I.M Boring ( lol )

ps: PLEASE POST MORE PICS OF MATATUS!!!! god I live those things grin
I don’t know why. Maybe its the graffiti, maybe the lights, maybe its the huge tyres that make no sense ( on tarmac ), or the huge screens that are a completely unnecessary waste of money, seeing as the average passenger will ride for no more than five minutes. Nevertheless, those things are cool as HELL ( lol wtf, no srsly?)

He meant the open sewer smell of nairobi.
