Are you people cursed to always criticise? Today you will say Buhari is driving away foreign direct investment, when foreigners decide to bring dollars into Nigeria and invest heavily you complain again.

These companies that you are complaining about bring their monies, expertise and experience. They did not hinder you or your people from investing. They pay for licences, pay for land, pay taxes and most importantly employ locals.

The Saudi owned ARAMCO is one of the biggest companies in the world if not the biggest. The company is estimated to value more than $2 trillion (two trillion dollars ). If they come to Nigeria, that would be a huge boost to investor confidence and our economy.
you are right...

But ibe kachuku did not tell us how much NNPC made last year too!

But we don't want to become AFGHANISTAN, IRAN, IRAQ! Or Libya

Nobody knows how much NNPC made in any year. Even Okonjo Iweala did not know how NNPC made in any year of the Jonathan administration. NNPC just declares the monies they like, and we accept whatever they give.
Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq or Libya was not caused by the Saudi. The conflicts were caused by the power play of the West.

Nigerian politicians can't invest stolen funds. First Nigerian politicians are terrible at business and secondly they are more interested in hiding and laundering the stolen funds. They prefer to take the monies overseas to be hidden in bank vaults or acquire expensive properties.

You mean the Saudis have more money than the US? The US don't need Saudi money to fight wars. The Saudis only help the US by flooding the market with oil to keep the price down.

Ok, here is my simplistic take.
The Nigerian government has proven to be unable to build, maintain and efficiently run a refinery in the country.
This is why private entities that see potential in that sector like dangote are entering into the business, but dangote alone would have a monopoly and this is why I wouldn't mind an introduction of a competitor even if it is a foreign company to create healthy competition and drive the price of commodities down.
I believe that any sector that the government has failed in, it should open up to private foreign and local investment that would lead to the development of that sector.
E.g. The government owned Nitel vs The competition between MTN, GLO, Airtel... That has developed the Nigerian telecommunications industry.

You analysis and concern over monopoly is good...but the truth is dangote..would not hold monopoly in this industry. this is because..the three existing refineries would b privatised immediately dangote finishes his so that effective competition can ensue....

Dangote and the rest are ok for our future refinery needs...we don't want capital flight issue...MTN Nigeria bought her licence for 256million nd invested over 5billion since then..bought they shiped out over 100billion since inception....

Just know it that any economomy that cannot hold on to money it makes will never progress...leakages of financial capital shouldn't b encouraged...

Once again...we say "no to capital flight"

Buhari's globethroting yeilding positive results. I hope lulu hypermarkets comes in also to show Shoprite how things are done, and Islamic Banks that charges nothing for most transactions, and give intrest free loan, as oppose the criminal 28% our bank charges comes too.

Its time to show this greedy terrorist screaming Dunce how business is done without greed around GCC countries, that makes all of them rich and morally upright.

The same Dunce screaming terrorism would travel to muslim majority countries like Malaysia, UAE, Qatar and Kuwait, only to become cultist, drug dealers and Bank robbers.

SouthWest is open for business and we shall give out free lands, any country or religion is welcomed, wether its Catholic and Vatican, Isreali and Jews or The Saudi and muslims, who ever wants to invest is free, as we dont descriminate.

.
There's always more than meets the eye in this kind of deal.

be careful when reading any document... from your comment, you're reading news that promotes globalists movement...

you're saying "Multinationals are not there to develop your economy" but the dutch colonized and developed South Africa and blocked indigenous South Africans from economic opportunities and even tried to wipe them out..

wizkid/davido earn that much because the people that listen to his music are mostly Nigerians or Africans in the diaspora... they make money from hard working Nigerians and Africans in the diaspora, its not the europeans patronizing their music grin grin grin

Last year, Nigerians in the diaspora repatriated over $20billion...

you have your opinion and I have mine...

you are allowing foreign media brain wash you cheesy cheesy cheesy

you are the ignorant one..

Sorry to say what you wrote smacks of ignorance but your views above are exactly what I expected.

Heads you win, tails I lose.

Even if a Nigerian supports similar views, it's because he reads globalists publication grin

This your stats about Davido or Wizkid, are they backed by facts or you just made them up? Asa probably earns more than each of them for foreign gigs. Are you saying is the Nigerians overseas are the ones patronising her and without them she'll be a failure.

Please provide some facts. You're probably a graduate so you need to defend what you wrote with hard facts

There are more important issues than this affecting the Ummah/Muslims and the world...

Please, deal with that first..

And besides, you may not be wanted here... Many have started linking this development to initiating terrorism in the land

To do such a project on a land where you are not wanted may become a failure in the end...
I hope the Saudi government can see this...
The only good thing about most of the nonsense comments I've read on this thread is the inconsequentiality of the opinions of the people who are opposed to this massive FDI. Those people saying the refinery isn't welcome have no say, and the refinery (if it comes to fruition), would probably not even be built in their domains.

The bolded part of your message, it's quite amusing that many Nigerians still do not understand how things work in Nigeria. Do you really think Dangote would allow those moribund refineries come back to life after he completes his?

Aliko is a shrewd businessman who thrives in aggresively maintaining his monopoly; if you doubt, go and ask people like BUA and IBETO. With all the noise and promises Kachikwu made about restoring the NNPC refineries by 2019, I wouldn't be surprised if Dangote has a hand in the frustration of Kachikwu. At this time (its already even late), Nigeria desperately needs anything that can stand as competition to Dangote. If Dangote becomes the sole producer of petroleum products post-2019, Nigerians would be lucky if the buy petrol for anything less than N220.

I have nothing against Dangote. He's currently the smartest and luckiest businessman in Nigeria today. And you're right, when he's done with his current set of ambitious mega projects (refinery, fertiliser and petrochemical plants and subsea gas pipeline), not only would he hit the Forbes top 10, he would also inject the much elusive life back into Nigeria's economy.
