Mrbrownjay1 It is very appalling to see you go on and on trying to pick a fault in the gentleman's story. Your relentless questions only show that you were trying hard to discredit the dude and his story. Thankfully, his story (to the extent that he knows) makes perfect sense. Sometimes, it is honourable to backdown when you realise you're wrong or may not have enough facts. Optimusprime2 I really commend your civility in patiently addressing our investigator. Not sure the Mongolians grilled you that much. I'm sorry about your nasty experience. Keeping representing us well and I wish you all the very best in your endeavours. 12 Likes 1 Share |

MrBrownJay1:So should he have forced them to give him a written explanation? If they didn't, should he have remained defiant and not leave the port of entry? I don't understand you at all! Just admit that his story might be correct and all legit or at least that you do not have enough facts to show him up as a fraud (which I suspect would be your greatest delight). It would not reduce you in anyway. Your display here was just pettiness masquerading as intelligence and sniffing for faults where there's none. 4 Likes |

This is very sad. Mongolia of all places. Some persons have a great job destroying the country's image. From bad leadership and those that have a knack for making it at all costs. It is well. Travellers, if you can have another citizenship, it would save the embarrassment. |

MrBrownJay1: The man was denied entry into Mongolia because Nigerians are barred from taking up employments in Mongolia. It's sad he met an uncompromising immigration officer who wasn't ready to bend the rules a weeny little bit. Just you know, in most cases when someone is being turned back at an airport, provided he/she had a return ticket, the immigration would expedite his or her return by ensuring the person is put on the next available flight. And when there's no available flight, the traveler would be put in a secure holding area until there's an available flight. Please, let the man lick his wounds, it's needless rubbing salt on it. 2 Likes |

chukxie: No matter how you try to deny it, I know you've been profiled based on your skin color abroad, especially in Asia OP, its a well known fact, that Asians prefer people with White skin. If you research well you'll see that most black nationals are not allowed to teach/lecture there. For example in China, South Africans are allowed to teach because there are whites among them, the same thing happens in Dubai but you won't see Kenyans, Ivorians or any other country with mostly black population given such privilege, take heart as Thecongo said, it's because you're from a country with majority black population 2 Likes |

Mizwisdom: Profiling is rampant here especially in big cities where a few unscrupulous blacks have done or are doing bad things. The rippling effect of the behaviours of a few bad eggs potentially rubs off on every black person especially as a Nigerian because sincerely speaking majority of crimes committed here by black people are committed by Nigerians. |

chukxie: True bro, but making it seem like it's all the immigration officer's fault because he was doing his job, is a funny part... Now would you bend the rules at your place of work (risking losing your job) for a total stranger?! I also do know that they have to give you a valid written statement to take with you so that airline can take you back at ThHEIR cost. I once knew someone that had similar issue as the OP (wrongly obtained visa)... The girl was from Yugoslavia, had a permanent residency in Italy, and when she applied for Asian work visa as "citizenship" she wrote ITALIAN..... And on the damn visa it was indeed written ITALIAN Then the biatch cried foul when she got refused entry..... jjohndoe83: Yes his story is correct that he applied for a visa that Nigerians are not allowed to get, and when immigration officer did his job, he turned around a made it seem like he was singled out because he was Nigerian... While the reality is that he was singled out because he had a WRONG visa that he shouldn't have had from the beginning, and the immigration officer DID HIS JOB. Yet here you are still saying that there is "no fault" in a guy having a wrongly obtained visa trying to enter a country with it. Really?!?!?! So I guess he was refused entry because they are racist right?! Because everyone hates Nigerians, right? Lol jjohndoe83: You may be the ones that believe all the nonsense stories that are littered on NL (regarding travels/visas) but I know better than to believe most. If you check deeper, you will realize That the majority of these people have fake/dubious or simply wrong documentation (like the OP) but yet, because they spent money on tickets etc, they expect to be let in on pity/charity ground, highly laughable. Now the issue would actually be simple if we ask/answer the RIGHT question, which is: can Nigerians obtain a visa to lecture in Mongolia?! and if they don't, then why does this person believe that he should be let in with such visa wrongly obtained? 4 Likes |

MrBrownJay1: What if the OP didn't know Nigerians weren't allowed to work in Mongolia until he landed at the airport presumably at Ulaanbaatar? Should the gentleman be blamed for that anomaly? The question we should be asking ourselves is: Why are Nigerians barred from taking up employments in Mongolia? This year, a mate of mine in 9ja applied for an English teaching at a Canadian funded private primary and secondary school in Guangdong ( don't want to mention the city for some reasons), did several Skype interviews, and passed pretty well. The school got him all the necessary documents from the ministry of labour and employment here, all documents duly signed (red seal of approval ). He went to Abuja for his interview and he passed. Got his working visa, booked a flight and off to China he went. On landing at the Baiyun airport in Guangzhou, homeboy was turned back with no reason(s) given. He said all the immigration officer told him was he wasn't going to let him in! A week later, a Ugandan girl who was employed by the same school was let through at the same airport without any hassles whatever. Do Ugandans speak better English than Nigerians? Hell No! Why was the Nigerian guy denied entry into China while the Ugandan lady was let in? Aren't they both blacks? So, the imperative question begging for answer is why are we often treated differently? 2 Likes |

MrBrownJay1: Till tomorrow I am ready to defend the fact that my visa was not wrongly obtained. I passed through the proper procedures, and I have kept on underlining the fact that it was approved by the Mongolian government. I didn't nominate myself to be part of the faculty, the nomination was from Ulanbataar itself. Getting to that level of having a work visa supported by an institution should tell you a thing or two about my profile. It was and is not stated anywhere that Nigerians were banned from working in Mongolia, neither was I informed about such ban throughout the whole process, until my arrival at that Airport... which is why my work visa got approved from the government and get this, with a Nigerian passport... Perhaps you have been to Mongolia and understand their laws and the clockwork of their system. Since you are this analytical, how about explaining why this large grey area exists? I would also like your take on the Mongolian embassy keeping mute about the Nigerian work visa ban, even after the episode at Ulanbataar? 3 Likes |

What Mrbrownjay1 said is true to an extent, I wondmt deny the fact that they do humiliate or delay Nigerians at POE of some countries but it has never occurred to me before. Holders of Nigeria passport are not allowed to apply for some visa categories but at times if you are a resident of some countries, it might be allowed but in the case of OP, he didn't check if Nigeria passport is allowed to apply or if you are only a resident of the country. |

chukxie: No he should NOT, but the immigration officer neither.... I would put the blame on these institutions who provided these worthless contracts. The question we should be asking ourselves is: Why are Nigerians barred from taking up employments in Mongolia? Bro I don't question these countries laws, I just follow them. I have to have a visa if I want to visit Mongolia while many other countries in Europe don't (Germany, Turkey Ukraine etc). No big deal here..... I could be ranting that they are racist against me too. Why was the Nigerian guy denied entry into China while the Ugandan lady was let in? Aren't they both blacks? So, the imperative question begging for answer is why are we often treated differently? Bro, I wouldn't know but the immigration personnel is obliged by law to give you an official written statement as to why you were denied entry. That person cannot simply deny you entry because they did not like your blue eyes..... But most importantly (and that's where many are failing): it is stated on your visa application that the visa holder CAN be denied entry at POE by immigration officer, if the information given does not match etc Now, I can speculate as to why Nigerians are singled out and triple checked (while arriving in China) as the necessary precaution taken by the Chinese government after so many Nigerians have been caught using fake document, carrying illegal substances etc. the Chinese jails are full of these "innocent" people.... But that in no way means that if you have a valid visa you shouldn't be let in. Many are let in, many have absolutely no problem because many are genuine law abiding travelers. optimusprime2: But the official document you got clearly stated that you had the wrong visa....I don't get where you are getting at. Are you saying THEY are wrong (even though both institutions who provided your travel documentations couldn't get them to admit it and let you in)?! Isn't it obvious to you that, instead of blaming your Nigerian citizenship, you should look deeper at these institutions?! Getting to that level of having a work visa supported by an institution should tell you a thing or two about my profile. Come on bro, ANYONE who applies for a Mongolian HG work visa must 1st have a pre-approved invitation letter that employer receives from Mongolian ministry, after they have requested for it (with valid documentation).... There could have been discrepancies on that level. It was and is not stated anywhere that Nigerians were banned from working in Mongolia, neither was I informed about such ban throughout the whole process, until my arrival at that Airport... which is why my work visa got approved from the government and get this, with a Nigerian passport... I can possibly give it a look if you give me your visa number.... 1 Like |

chukxie: Again your conclusion on the bolded is completely baseless. You have no tangible facts but just hearsay. Your mate had told you his side of the story which may not even be accurate to begin with. You didn't get the Chinese official version and yet you are making a conclusion on this case. You don't know anything about the lady from Uganda. You dont know if she was recommended by the president of Uganda. You have no inside information regarding this case. I have followed hundreds of discrimination cases in Canada. One thing I have learned is that so long as you have no inside information as to why a white person was hired instead of a black person, don't jump into conclusion that racism was at play. You should get the facts first from everyone involved. But in this case, your friend told you his. Your friend may have hidden his dirty laundry but chose to present only the clean sheets to you.. A good number of Nigerians on this site enjoy feeding themselves with the idea that humanity is conspiring against Nigerians. So, any time a Nigerian is been denied entry in a country, it becomes a tangible fact to them to prove their "conspiracy" theory. Nairaland is full of those baseless arguments. I am having a hard time to reconsile the 2 faces of a Nigerian. On one hand, I see a Nigerian as someone who can achieve the impossible. A Nigerian can master his courage to the extent of walking the Sahara desert and crossing the red sea to reach his goal. This type of courage is inspirational and can only be found in very places on the planet. On the other hand, that same courageous Nigerian is a wimp who cries every time thinking the entire world hate him based on his own opinion. To answer your question as to why Nigerians have been treated differently, I would say that you have been treated just like the rest of the world. But you love feeding yourself with inaccurate, unsubtentiate stories. You believe in stories which you don't have any tangible facts about but just hearsay. Stop feeding yourselves with those half baked true. No one hate Nigerians. 2 Likes |

Perhaps you were too much in a hurry to rebuff my write-up you completely missed the point I was trying to make. You spoke about following discrimination cases in Canada and whatnot. Sir, that's completely irrelevant to my comments. At no point did I allude to racism as being the reason for my mate's refusal into China? Aren't Ugandas black was the question I asked. The question points to the fact that racism wasn't a factor at least in my mate's case. You should read with an open mind so you don't appear like one that lacks comprehensive abilities. chukxie: Those are the questions you have asked earlier: Why was the Nigerian guy denied entry into China while the Ugandan lady was let in? Aren't they both blacks? So, the imperative question begging for answer is why are we often treated differently ? Now, my questions to you: Who told you Nigerians are often treated differently? Do you have any numerical data to back this up or your only basis are unsubstantiated stories like the one your friend had told you? You didn't allude to racism as being the reason for your mate entry's refusal into China. I only brought up the discrimination issue to suggest that it is easy to come up with an erroneous conclusion when you dont have all the facts. I am sure people of all nationalities have been denied entry in China. The lady from Uganda may have been more qualified than your mate. Your mate may have hidden the truth to you. Now back to my question, how do you know Nigerians are often treated differently? Same to you : You should read with an open mind so you don't appear like one that lacks comprehensive abilities 2 Likes |
