One of the few sensible governors in Nigeria. IGR should be key for all states. Oil price is subject to many external factors and we have to beat down that dangerous mentality of "Nigeria is always rich". Times have changed a lot and it will take a lot of work to sustain Nigeria in the future, not a lot of oil. |

Crazy how these governors can openly break laws. The only reason these government heads feel safe is because the laws aren't enforced. Two ways to pay wages bill. Make cuts or collect more taxes. |

It is obvious that a lot of Nigerians can't read and digest. What Obaseki is saying is that if Edo State civil servants can work more to increase IGR, he will increase the Edo State minimum wage to a figure above the N30,000 just approved by the FG. It would be recalled that Edo State was already paying N25,000 as her minimum wage as at when the national figure was still N18,000. If the civil servants he was speaking to at that event had understood him as making IGR increase a condition for paying the N30,000, knowing the kind of people Edos are, then the venue of the event would have gone up in flames immediately he made the utterance. 2 Likes |

hardeycute: Obaseki holds the record for reduced cost of governance in Nigeria. Very modest. Does not waste money on project commissioning jamboree. Only 4cars in his convoy. No loitering around govt house by political jobbers. No comissioner or SA/SSA uses more than one car (no police escort except where it is very necessary and the police man will seat in same car. Commissioners use pajero and not Prado or land cruiser. No new cars were bought for appointees ( they were giving the ones oshiomole bought. Some use 2009/10. Prudently servicing the debt oshobaba left behind without borrowing more. So much more cost cutting initiative put in place by this man. 1 Like |
