Lust of the Flesh


[3]And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
[4]But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:3-4).

Our Lord Jesus had just descended from a 40days and 40nights fast being led of the Spirit of God, anyone could imagine Him extremely hungry. If we look carefully into this account, we would realise that Satan always tried to draw the Lord out of walking after the spirit into walking after the flesh or fulfilling the lust of the flesh, which is sin, but the Lord stood His ground! These are sins carried out in the body of sin, the desires of our body lusting against the spirit.

This haven shattered so many great destinies leaving them unfulfilled also have the highest percentage of believers in its bondage, especially the youths who cannot abstain from fornication, while the elders also struggles with adultery and little common lies. These think in their minds that their evil works have no consequences, that the fires of the lake which burns with sulphur is no longer hot, they console their souls that the Judge of heaven and earth will mistakenly overlook their wickedness and whoredom. What a dream! Awake! For they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God (Galatians 5:21)! Shall not!

What can be more plain? Dear drunkard, glutton, liar, thief, drug addict, pornographer, masturbator, lesbian, sodomite, hater, smoker, cheater, worshipper of false gods, reveller, gossiper, backbiter, sorcerer, new ager, unbeliever, coward, and the likes, listen to what Paul has to say! 1 Corinthians 9:27; But I keep under my body bringing it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. If Paul the great apostle of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles could be castaway, can we escape the consequences of this evil that we do? Shouldn't we bring our bodies into subjection that we might not be condemned with the world?

Brethren, Christ has dealt with these sins and we unnecessarily no longer have to be slaves, for sin has no dominion over we who are in Christ Jesus by faith in his blood. Are we not baptised into His death? Do dead men commit sin? (Romans 6:2), For he that is dead is freed from sin (Romans 6:7). If we believe that we died when Christ died, we shall no longer be ruled by the desires of the body, because Christ has done away with the body of sin. Let us step into the reality of the victory of Christ's cross by faith, deny these wicked sins and forsake these condemnable practices that we might walk in the fullness of life in Christ.
