Hackney you need to be very careful so as not to twist this thread into a thread justifying atheism. I don't want to get into a pointless debate about atheism as in of itself it is a wholly negative concept.
However in this present dispensation all men are mortal. In other words there is a time to be born and a time to die. God in his infinite sovereignty permits or allows these days to come to pass.
As for Milliband I have no idea why he is an atheist. But it is likely that his upbringing played a large part in that. However its not for you or anyone else to speculate or justify another man's lack of faith. That is solely his own constituency.
