Seriously bro what a wrong and misleading write up!!!

Graphical programming or visual programming is a technique of programming where visual blocks connections are used to code instead of texts making it easy for non coders to implement algorithms.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_programming_language

A little research would do no harm before jumping into conclusions.

The world we are is full of knowledge. The fact that you have not yet understood a concept does not make the speaker a liar.

In computing, a visual programming language (VPL) is any programming language that lets users create programs by manipulating program elements graphically rather than by specifying them textually.

Visual Programming Language like Scratch are made for kids to introduce them to programming. There is no substitute for actual coding ( of course tools can help a lot and increase productivity ) . How can you learn coding by dragging and dropping icons?

There are other advanced visual languages other than elementary ones like scratch.

The choice of a method of coding depends on your task. For a data analyst, visual programming gives a leverage on extracting useful insights from a given data, with professionally built models there by eliminating error and increasing efficiency unlike text-based programming.

I will be very much interested in knowing any Visual Programming you have used for Data analysis Or Mission critical tasks

Good luck getting a job with your "graphical based programming skills"

Can't you develop a skill to be an employer
What happened to leisure

can you name such graphical programming languages used by data Scientists?

Orange Data Mining.

Orange is an open-source data visualization, machine learning and data mining toolkit. It features a visual programming front-end for explorative data analysis and interactive data visualization, and can also be used as a Python library.

Sure! use to make life easy for Scientist, Engineers etc. Some also for Educational Purposes. I personally view them as a software tools not full blown language. its just like matlab even though actual programming is done in matlab.

Orange data mining in python has been around since 1996, and still not as popular as the actual coding of machine learning/ deep learning algorithms using scikitlearn, keras and tensorflow.
At best, most of these simple software tools like Orange data mining(in Python), and Weka(in java) are good enough for visualization and some simple problems but they can hardly get you that far without the actual coding, this is why they ain't as popular as you would expect.

Exactly! any Data Scientist that don't use Python, R, Julia etc can never be taken serious. some of these tools are cool (esp for ease of learning, productivity etc) but in no way substitute for actual coding. they are not totally flexible...is like comparing D3.js with his so called Orange Data Mining. with D3.js you can do virtually anything as far as visualization is concerned compare to software tools like Orange Data Mining. Honestly I have never heard of the Orange Data Mining before.

Let's not get it wrong.

Orange data mining is not a programming language but a tool.

The fact that a tool gives you a graphical interface to manipulate data and do some tasks doesnt make it a programming language.

Let me use an instance that everyone can relate to SQL.

SQL is a programming language and there are lots of graphical clients for SQL- workbench, phpmyadmin, hiedisql etc.

This tools allows you to have a graphical representation of your database and also allows you to manipulate it without code.

But when you want to add a database solution to your application do you use them? No, you have to write SQL in code. Same applies to orange. If I needed to integrate it in my project, I would use its python api.

The tools are there for convenience and not as a replacement.

Well, speaking from my own perspective, coding from scratch is not obsolete and can never be. Dont forget that most of these tools and libraries we use were coded from scratch with C++, C, java etc and new ones to come may still need to be coded from scratch.

Your knowledge in data structure and algorithm is very KEY if you want to be taken seriously by the whites who own these technologies.

If any of you have had interviews with the whites you realise most of the time they dont care about the framework or tool you can use. They test your knowledge in data structure and algorithm which means your programming skill is very vital.
A friend lost out to be employed by Microsoft because she failed at algorithms test.

In summary its good to know the usage of these tools mentioned in order to get the job done on time and easily but its way better to learn programming as it makes you an Alpha techie.

I agree to all the bold text above.
Cloud computing is more than what u think. When u need to process, store and secure a large number of information and data. U need cloud computing. How many system do u think can process a petabyte of data? None bro.
Also programming been done in d old fashion way. Bro u are still in 20th century, in 21st no its not d same way. Do ur research and contradict me.
And about u fitting all instruction giving to a computer in a box. Its highly possible and already been done. Example. Self driving car using ai. Go and read about it.
issuing commands to a computer by a human is what you call obsolete? Is cooking-by humans- also obsolete? As far as they r computers and humans,a.i,cloud whatever will never replace programmers or human programming. To do so, human intelligence level a.i will hav to b created. So far that isnt happening yet. The scientific world isnt even near that level yet.
Programs are instructions a computer executes - it has nothing to do with petabytes of data etc. Many business software are being written nd will b written without huge silos of data churned. The business transaction occurs because one person provided paid value to another. Period.

I love your comment.
Granted Machine Learning is a very big deal, but human programming is never going to be obsolete.

Some of us on here shouting human programming is obsolete haven't even built or done any major product/project with ML.

I never said programming is or will b obsolete rather I said ways in which we programme has really changed. And for ur info, ai and ml are all programming. So pls don't quote me Wrong. And I also quoted the bolded right from my earlier post.
And for ur info we av ai been developed that will supercede human reasoning and functioning.
And I av my works on github for those who are interested on what I av been able to achieve so far and if anyone need proofs. They should just google what ai and ml are achieving presebtly.

When I see most people still talking about the old python, java, e.t.c. in this our part of the world, I tend to wonder if we are ever going to catch up with the rest of the world in innovations and rapid development.
Don't get me wrong, learning primary languages such as c++, python, java, r programming, e.t.c is essential, but in the present reality, this programming languages is more or less like learning English language, French language, Spanish language, e.t.c.
What should be more of focus is cloud computing, data analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data, software development, e.t.c. because this are now what set the technology pace.
Ofcos one can't do all these without learning basic programming, but presently nobody writes bogus programming anymore when you can just write a two or few lines of code which will easily execute and give desire result.
In conclusion, I am just trying to let us Africa to look beyond the basic programming of 10years ago and put our focus on the the most essentials like tensorflow, datalab, e.t.c. our pace is too slow, we need to set our priorities right.
In medicals, technologies, weather forecasting, marketing, accounting e.t.c are all been overtaking by a.i and ml. In few more years the most lucrative jobs will be taking by those who understand a.i and ml.

Questions:
What is the old Python and Java?
What is the basic programming of 10 years ago ? And how is tensorflow etc (frameworks) the future?
You talk of setting paces, have u never read about the a.i winter? When shiny hot tech failed?
Did u read when the death of java was predicted many years ago by ruby enthusiasts? Who bit the dust in the end? Java or ruby?
Sure a.i nd ml are hot right now. Many things will get overtaken by a.i but predicting the death of general purpose programming by a.i? You may b repeating Ruby's mistake.

Human level a.i (general ai) hasn't been achieved yet-get your facts straight. Many scientists even doubt the possibility of ever achieving that.
E.g. do you know when u r conscious? Can a computer program know when it is conscious?

Googel about NodeJs, it is not a UI/CSS framework, it a server framework. A server-side framework help your website do data storage, file storage, login and logout manipulations, and many advance technics that would make your website come to live. PHP and ASP are other alternatives.

Alternatively you can search wordpress theme repo if a plugin exist already but then again it wouldn't be free.
