Advancement in genetics and molecular biotechnology has opened the door for so many possibilities in proffering solutions to the myriads of challenges the world face in the areas of healthcare and Agriculture.

By careful manipulation of genes, many inherited disorders such as sickle cell anaemia, cystic fibrosis, Alzheimer's disease, cancers etc can now be cured. Also, using this same technology, agricultural products with improved quality can now be produced.

In 1996, a group of scientists in the UK cloned the first mammal and named it "dolly" sheep. This gave insight into the possibility of human cloning! With the human genome project on the verge of being completed, it could become a possibility to clone a human being.

But all these lofty achievements have been greeted with stiff opposition from religious fanatics. This is because they believe that allowing such great scientific projects could expose the fallacious belief system they have held on to for so long. I mean, the believe that humans were created by a "god" who lives up there in the sky would be further weakened if we can now create a human being in the lab. Also, it would further expose the fraudulent pastors who go about defrauding people with the claims of miraculous healing. Most of the ailments they claim to be spiritual can actually be traced to the genes and if we can now get off such bad genes, a lot of those ailments would be cured and our "gods of men" would go out of business. Perhaps, this explains why they have mounted serious campaigns and propaganda against biotechnological advancements.

Agreed that the process of gene recombination could go awry if not properly handled, I think boycotting it entirely is not in the interest of humanity. We should rather put in place a system to control the process and to check abuses of this noble and interesting area of science.

Religious people should please stop constituting a clog in our wheels of progress. Thank you!

The 'Gods' and Lord God of the Bible were Genetic Scientists, Biotech Engineers, Astronauts, Horticulturists and Yes, they were Human Species called, the Homo Capensis.

Whether Religions like it or not, Cloning is and has been on-going since 1965 and today Homo Sapiens has become as wise as the Homo Capensis, our Ancestors which are erroneously worshipped as Gods by the Jesuit invented Savior Programs called Christianity and Islam.

It is time to stop fooling each other about the presence of a Sky Daddy who loves us all but wants us to kneel, beg and cry just for daily bread.

Yet he loves us all.
