Just check the shape of its head, if it's triangular and bigger than its slender body it's poisonous but if it just has a flat head uniform with its body it's not harmful. But why do you need to know if it's poisonous or not

Oga this isn't a garter snakes , they might look closely similar but it's definitely another specie. Garter snakes are only found in the Americas
