Shut up

The politicians and the elites that have continuously destroyed this country are never denied visas. They empower us to kill ourselves while they send their wards abroad. They get malaria they fly abroad but not a single functional WORLD STANDARD PUBLIC hospital in NIGERIA. Please just keep quiet... the people that’s gonna bear the brunt of any unfavorable immigration policy are the masses.
l concur with you, l also think that the US should start denying useless politicians and their families visas so that they will also suffer from the sufferings they created for the masses

This is just Indiana o, Imagine the number of Nigerians you will see in Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Dallas and Maryland grin grin grin YOU GO FEAR!

But they are now wiser; any Nigerian that pays for U.S Visa fee in 2019 is like throwing money into the Ocean.

You didn't even mention houston. The city with most Nigerians

Funny thing is that the embassy don't refuse visa on politicians and their children.
The other day, I met a daughter of a former governor (name withheld) of oyo state at an auto bay in Maryland fixing her car and another day, the son of one former speaker of Ondo state coming around my neighborhood in Maryland dating a girl there. All these politicians have their children living outside of the country

If you look at percentages of Nigerian non immigrant visitors in 2015, 2016, 2017, who refuse to return back to Nigeria after their visitation; you will find that the number keep increasing, hence the corresponding increase in denials.

When prior non immigrant visitors refuse to honor their obligations and return back to Nigeria, the embassy not only tracks it and take notice; they also use those feedbacks to re-evaluate their visa process...e.g. the story or ‘packaging’ trend that led to a visa issuance in 2017 but have high non-return rate, will make the embassy to start questioning the intentions of those with the same ‘packaging’ who they are interviewing in 2018.

For the last fiscal year 2018, a total of 143,783 non-immigrant US visas were issued to Nigerians. In the 2017 fiscal year, the figure was 168,980.

In 2016, a total of 179, 145 Nigerians were granted different categories of non-immigrant visas to the US.

When compared to the figures released for the 2016 and 2017 fiscal years, the data reveal visa denials for Nigerians surged in 2018.

Data for 2019 has not been published but there have been lamentations from many Nigerians about high rejection rate since the beginning of the year.

With a 57.47% adjusted refusal rate, Nigeria was also listed among top countries like Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Burundi, Burkina Faso etc., with high refusal rate for B-visas. B visas are issued for short-term business or pleasure travel to the United States.

Despite the surge in visa denials for Nigerians, the country still accounts for the highest percentage of visas issued to African nationals in the past three years.

For the 2018 fiscal year, nationals of African countries got a total of 493,989 non-immigrant visas out of which 143, 783 were Nigerians.

Last year, a total of 9,028,026 persons were granted the non-immigrant visas by the US. Contrary to the claim that Nigeria is the biggest beneficiary of the US non-immigrant visa, Nigerians only account for just 1.6 per cent of the total figure of those granted the non-immigrant visas in the last fiscal year.

With 16.2%, China takes the largest chunk of the total figure with 1,464,810 citizens granted different categories of non-immigrant visas in 2018. The Asian giant was followed by Mexico (1,372,420), India (1,006,802), Brazil (641,820) and Argentina (341,282).

Others are Philippines (238,684), Colombia (235,410), Israel (186,461), Ecuador (164,651) and followed by Nigeria (143,783).

I heard of a man who got denied for the weirdest reason.

The guy is married and wanted visa to the US for 15 days to attend some conferences.

They asked oga who will take cars of his family if he's away, oga said "my wife is a banker, she can take care of things while I'm away".

Na why them deny the guy be that.
The conference thing is a strategy Nigerians use to disvirgin and upgrade their international passports. US Visa agents at the embassies have upgraded too.

They walk without escort when they are living in foreign countries but when the return back to Nigeria they will be going out with police escorts throughout their stay in Nigeria.

Conference attendance is a scam that has casted. When growing up my dad was very active in research and participated at several conferences presenting papers here and all in different countries . While in high school we once had an interview together (as family) and VO asked him how many times he had been to USA. His response was “I don’t think I can remember. I returned to Nigeria after completing my PH.D in Philadelphia in 1982 and have been visiting since then. They chatted a bit about Philadelphia and interview ended” Now a Vo is not likely to deny such an individual even in 2019. But all these one time conference attendees are usually targets of denials by VOs.

He was denied because according to a staff there, all they needed him to do was to provide a deposit that's enough to take care of his family for the time he's away or say he is leaving his wide with signed cheques and ATM cards and pin.

Him saying his wife works in a bank is equivalent to him absconding and leaving his wife to take care of his children since she "works in a bank".

Americans don't play with child support.

Sad thing is, only two of them from Nigeria were selected to attend. Other African countries participants were allowed to attend.

The other person I suspect might have gotten denied cause she went for the visa interview with a long hijab.

I don't know sha.

you people just here arguing nonsense did you notice that they didn't state how many people were denied..
go to VI any day you are free and see the numbers of Nigerians queuing up from early morning till afternoon for their interview
if American embassy would not issue people visa if they choose to deny people visa they should also make refund of people's money.
