With the angle of photography it would be hard to determine what vehicle make.

Only 2 popular road manufacturer in naija I know uses emblem on the steering, VW and BMW.

with the front seat design, dash board layout and the fact that it's an SUV, my guess is it's a BMW X5

It's a Lexus RX 350

In Nigeria, we play with thunder and lighting a lot without knowing that they are powerful and seem to be more dangerous than we normally thought. A lady has taken to Twitter to thank God for the life of her sister, according to her, Lightening struck my aunt’s car this morning in Abuja. God save us.

Imagine if her sister was in the car or someone close by... According to the images sent to us, the car was razed to the ground and nothing was spare, totally destroyed. So, when next you want to abuse someone of thunder and lightning, please, think twice again.

See more images of this car below...

look at the second pix, the rear glass, now look carefully at the mini glass, it's an irregular rectangle, RX uses triangle instead. You could say it looks like an Highlander but the dash board area is exactly like a BMW X5 protrude outward then slides in downwards.

Also Lexus doesn't have emblem on the steering, emblem is different from just placing logo (which is what majority uses).

The steering logo is round Lexus logo is oval

The steering logo position is still visible after the fire only an emblem burnt to that degree will leave it's Mark position, a Lexus logo would have melted off with no trace on the steering

all electrical in cars have Earth or ground wirings. So what then do you call those ground wires attached to bare metal frames on the body? Earth wire. Meaning the car is grounded/earthed.
If earthing means grounding, I was asking you to know how the earthing is effected since the car metal body has no connection to the ground.

According to science this cannot happen to a car by lightening. As a matter of fact a car is one of the safest places to be during lightening and thunder strikes because of what is called the FARADAY CAGE, which is the metal frame that surrounds the car ( pls google for more insight).

You're safe in a car because the lightning will travel around the surface of the vehicle and then go to ground. This occurs because the vehicle acts like a Faraday cage. Michael Faraday, a British physicist, discovered that a metal cage would shield objects within the cage when a high potential discharge hit the cage. The metal, being a good conductor, would direct the current around the objects and discharge it safely to the ground. This process of shielding is widely used today to protect the electrostatic sensitive integrated circuits in the electronics world.

Unless that lightening was send by a thunder god from the persons village, or the car is a convertible lacking a farady enclosure, the person better find who burnt the car!

Those are the views of persons who don't know any better.
Science has told you with demonstration (video evidence), that lightning can't set a car on fire.
That car was zapped several times and far longer than any lighting occurrence would. With a live human inside. Do you think Top Gear or the German engineers would have tried it if they were not 100% sure?
Or you take the opinions or fifth grade "scientists" over that of seasoned and established researchers?
You can believe what you like. It's your choice.

Fake. Cars are Faraday Cages and can't be burnt by lightning.

This car was in a fire accident, that's all. Nothing lightning-related.

Leave them, lightening hardly strikes anything that is insulated from the ground. Cars have rubber tires which is a very very poor electricity conductor.

This is fake and it's a lie. Remember cars are formed in a way similar to Faraday cage?
Car Manufacturers earth all their cars, besides, all cars conduct and transmit charges from lightening to the earth harmlessly.

True, it sounds fake.

However, cars do not transmit lightening to earth easily because of tires. The earth/ground of a car (DC -ve) is not like the earth/ground of a house which function as a safety device.

That of a car is just a way of reducing cost or running 2 wires (+ and-) all over the car. That would multiply the number of wire needed to wire a car.

The earth of a house is a fail safe measure meant to dissipate any electrical insulation leakage from any assessory to ground. This makes a faulty assessory safe from electric shock. Its also used by fuses and circuit breaker to trip off when fault is detected.

To avoid lighting, you have 2 ways. 1st is to isolate from earth and 2nd to create a perfect path for it to ground. The ultimate destination of lightning is the earth where it gets neutralized.

When there is a car, a tree and a house, lightening will chose either the tree or house but not a car. The car is just least attractive. A lightening spike place above the house provides the most attractive path for lightening which is connected to earth where it gets neutralized.

When a car is stroke by lightning, a person in the car is protected by the cars metal cage like a faraday suit will. The lightening will likely start a fire but the likely hood of striking a car is highly unlikely especially in a city with tall buildings and trees. A desert with no trees or houses is where a car is most likely to get a strike.
