The only snag with that is that there is no amount of long pressing ESC button that can get the missing audio before the clip starts and at the end of all statements. E.g. if your audio starts at 00:00:05 for example or if the last statement ends at 00:02:49 for a job that has duration of all statements as 3.1 minutes, your best bet would be to download the full audio

True though.

Please guys i need your help.
I'm a broke student who's eager and desperate to make some bucks. Have been hearing about transcription for the past few weeks and i really want to give it a try. Please how do i go about it?
I don't have a PayPal account, i don't even have a MasterCard or Visa debit card although i plan to go to the nearest First Bank branch today and request for a MasterCard debit card. Problem is that my account is FirstInstant and am not sure whether i can get a MasterCard with a FirstInstant account.
I also don't have a computer, can i do it with a smartphone?
Please someone should advice me on whether this is a possible venture for me or not.
Thanks.

I don't know if there are students here sha. Because I really don't know if it'll be easy multi-tasking between academics and transcribing.

But it's good that you're a student. Before anything, can you read on what others have said about it from page 1 and above? That way, you'll know whether or not you can combine academics and it. Considering you just said you're broke, it's not the quickest way to get money, and it'll take your time.

So, let's start from there.
1. Though not recommended, you can use a phone.
2. PayPal creation is easy-peasy.

Read the pages first. Don't miss a detail.
Good luck.

Thanks for your reply brother, i have actually thought about combining academics and the transcription stuff and i think i can cope. I study at the Confucius Institute and we only stay in class for few hours in a day. Wednesdays and Weekends are free. So for the time i think i can cope with it.
I have also read most of the comments on the thread and i perfectly understood every word of it.
Thanks.

GO to a GTB Bank and request for a GTcr8 account. You will be issued with a debit card that allows you carry out international transactions.

Why not verify with the africard?
Why use a different card to verify?

Yes you can be self employed anywhere you are in the country transcribing for a living.

This thread will teach you everything you need to know to start up and the tools needed to deliver the goods.

You would need

1. A PC, tab or mobile phone
2. Affordable internet connection
3. Good head phones
4 Good command of English

Everything else can be learned on this thread. For those of us who have already started transcribing, we're welcome to share our ideas here so that this can be our online community.

To avoid this thread being banned, kindly let us adhere to all the rules of Nairaland.

Should we want to share screenshots, kindly let's block the company and important call info.

Also all forms of advertising is prohibited and will be reported.

Edited 9/7/2019 posted by samsard for newbies. Once you master these, the rest go easy

E.g
Rep: I was gonna, uhmmm, I was gonna tell ya about, about the new product we launched.
What they need: I was going to tell you about the new product we launched.

Punctuation: Hello, Philip. It's Emily calling from CLH Group. How're you doing today?
Cust: I'm fine, thank you. And how are you?

Longer calls will be more complex in terms of punctuation but for a start
A comma before and after a name in mid sentence. A comma before or after a name in salutation.
You're also allowed MINOR corrections for making clear transcripts.
Anyway, read through the FAQ and regularly Consult it while working at least till you acquaint yourself with it's detail

All full company names, PayPal email addresses and screenshots that include confidential company information must not be shared on this thread and will be reported

that call actually discouraged me from working for some days now. I will always check the call duration tallies before I start work from now on.
drawnobet:

Happened to me like 3 weeks ago when I noticed that my amount earned and audio minutes for the transcript that I had just submitted was less than the call duration when I was working on it. Complained on Slack and was told that the difference would be added to my weekly pay manually but that's yet to happen. Since then, the first thing I do after picking a call is to verify the duration of the call before I picked tallies with the total duration of all statements so that I don't scam myself

Gbam! Also listen to the full audio so that you're sure the clip doesn't have ebola at the end. I got released from a call where I had transcribed 17 minutes already because the audio was bad towards the end of the clip. SCC said I should have listened to all statements before starting work. I am still in pains

You might not get one that will serve you 'Weller' for that price, but who knows, you might just be lucky. You can check the technology section for dealers. If it's for this gig, then basically, what you'll be looking for is a PC with good ba3 and decent RAM. The ba3 life is key. Will save you a lot.
