The old Eastern Region was an administrative area consisting of many tribes created by the British colonial Masters in the same way Nigeria was created. When did Kanu seek their consent to determine that they want a referendum? Who gave Kanu the mandate to ask for referendum? Do the Governors and Houses of Assemblies of these States ask for referendum or Kanu and his group have greater legitimacy than their States' Governments? kingzizzy: 1 Like |

What Kanu is asking for is similar to what Boko Haram is asking for. Boko Haram are asking for Borno, Yobe and eight other Northern States to be given to them to create an Islamic Country based on the Sharia Legal system and have taken arms to actualize this demand (they aren't exploring the referendum option) kingzizzy: 1 Like |

oalandAgents2: How else do you want the mandate given? When Kanu steps in, people follow. He is a natural leader. He was reluctant but eventually had to work with senator enyinnaya abaribe to speak sense into the igbo political class. Of course they rejected sense and chose to be seen as " corrupted leaders of the defeated". You speak of Democratic system, was it not the same kanu that gave approval for IPOB to vote if they so desire during the last election? He has being trying not to involve himself in national politics... because he is a staunch SEPERATIST. See, if you want to embrace truth, embrace it with your alms wide open. Nigeria is a failed contraption that has deliberately refused to work itself out. Somebody wants to referendum to decide whether his people stays or leaves. He knows Nigerian politicians of all tribes are corrupt because the system itself is corrupt. Why facing a man who believes in his people's dream of a separate state of biafra? 1 Like |

Re: IPoB: Igbos come here and discuss Biafra agitation as led by Nnamdi Kanu by kingzizzy: 10:19pm On Jun 26, 2019 |
oyatz: Kanu does not need to seek the mandate of of anybody just as the British did not seek anybody's mandate before they lumped everybody into Nigeria What matters is that everybody, including Kanu, has the right of self determination which is codified in international law and ratified by Nigeria. So Kanu and his group have the right to call for referendum of anywhere. Whether Kanu gets a referendum is another issue but he is well in his rights to call for one. Besides, what type of person or people doesnt want the right to decide where they want to be or what country they belong to? Only a complete idiot or slave will deny himself the right to choose 2 Likes |

Unik3030:let me answer ur question... the real reason igbos were massacred was that the first coup was wrongfully termed an igbo coup just as u did now.(even u urself know that some yorubas nd other tribes were involved..granted tho, igbos were in the majority)... And by the way...that ur second point about igbo mocking the north is is false.. now compare this figures= About 30 people were killed in The first coup. while about 500 people were killd in the second coup. wat did u notice? 2 Likes |

NkayStory:Exactly what we are saying, even if he's a Yoruba as you insinuated, it is people like him and other Nigerians that you ought to be lobbying to get the referendum and secession clause into the constitution but of course, all you do is insult them and expect them to support you. If I may ask you, are the Fulani herdsmen not in your region too, remove the log of wood in your eyes before searching for shaft in someone else's eyes. 1 Like |

oalandAgents2:Well done my brother. I am impressed you are stimulating intellectual debate on the biafra question and not insults, threats and blackmail as employed by Kanu and his IPOB group. I am even none has called you efulefu, slave or afonja, maybe they are becoming more restraint. Before I continue let me disagree with some of your narrative. First, there is no record of massacres of Igbos in Lagos and in the West. Such unfounded allegations would be taken as malicious lies by the yorubas, it was in the north that Igbos were being massacred. If you have any reference to Igbos being massacred in Lagos in 1966 - 67, please educate us. Secondly, I do not see the direct connection between the massacre or Igbos in other parts of Nigeria with declaration of Biafra. Yes, it was unfortunate and even criminal that Igbos were being massacred, and General Gowon did or could not stop it (the same thing that Gowon himself accused General Ironsi and hence his counter coup. He accused General Ironsi of not prosecuting the January 1966 murderers). But, the Aburi accord was not about stopping the massacre of Igbos, it was about granting the south east under Ojukwu autonomy. The Aburi accord would not have stopped the Igbos massacres. It would have only made Ojukwu not be under the authority of Gowon. As someone said, every tribe has different narrative of the war. Every body feels like victim and saw the others as aggressors. |

Kids brainwashed to hate and always full of bile for themselves and other citizens, parents and grandparents should be blamed for this for not passing down the true narratives to them or perhaps they themselves didn't know about it 1 Like 1 Share |

oalandAgents2: When I started reading through your post, I thought you are a serious person, but I finally realized you are a mischievous person who is hopelessly ignorant and uneducated... your chief motive here is to discredit NNAMDI KANU, and your tactic in achieving that is to first seem to support ojukwu in other to blind people from your dirty work... You are probably not an Igbo person. And most of your stated historic facts are wrong. Now let me address your ignorance, you asked if NNAMDI KANU first consulted the people and sort for their mandate before agitating for Biafra....a person not enlightened enough will not understand the game you are trying to play here. To enlighten your ignorance, NNAMDI KANU is not personally agitating for Biafra, he is demanding for a REFERANDUM from the government so that the PEOPLE can decide for themselves if they want Nigeria or Biafra....that is the ultimate mandate of the people you are asking for.... You probably don't know this...cus I can see you are not educated enough, if educated at all 2 Likes 2 Shares |

banom:I think you are the one who needs some education on this, it is never one person or group that can request for something as big as a referendum or secession, it is the the representatives of the people that can do that and they include the traditional and political leaders. No Igbo group, LGA, state, NASS member from the SE had asked Nnamdi Kanu or IPOB to speak for them or you can give us a link to when he consulted with the people |
