You can ask that question to your brother GEJ when he was the president, yet could not do such to his region. Thats why I marveled the way SE especially praise this man to high heavens, yet no single development in both SE and SS. Even his state can have the seaport.
So do not blame this current regime if they are doing the right thing as they understand better. I rest my case.

So, by your warped logic, if an Ijaw man becomes president tomorrow, he should ignore the seaport Buhari is building in Ondo and build a new one in his own area, right? It is thinking like yours that has kept this country where it is. You are correct, GEJ worked on things he thought were more expedient for Nigeria and not just his village. He expended a lot of resources building almajiri schools in the North. He permitted Adesina to heavily invest in irrigation in the North. He built the Kaduna-Abuja railway. He modernised nigeria's airports. To mention a few.

Goods imported into Ondo will still be ferried by road to Aba, Onitsha, PH. It makes no sense, but then again, you are not engaged in this discourse to make sense.

No, you are the one being tribalistic and supporting evil due to irrational hatred. Why Ondo? That's a sensible, patriotic question to ask. PH, Warri and Calabar have ports already which are deliberately neglected and dilapidated. It will be cheaper to develop these ones than build a new one in Ondo. Onitsha and Aba based businesses have the highest need for a seaport and PH, Warri or Calabar are much closer to them.
The question, why Ondo? is therefore legitimate but YOUR tribalism and hatred wont let you see the logic in it.
do u even realise that ondo is a south west state and also a Niger Delta state?...the fact that ondo is between south South and south west remains the biggest reason for the location...mind u,delta, rivers, ibom and calabar already have ports that will serve south east

You dont expect the FG to prioritize a River Port over a Sea port do you? Onne port is active. Warri and Calabar are the ones that needs to be revived.
And what's the difference between a river and a sea? Don't you know that some rivers are deeper than some certain seas?
Re: FG Considers Ondo For Deep Seaport by Ebeano49(m): 11:52am On Jul 04, 2019
And being from Niger Delta makes you an expert on this subject?? Talk of being clueless! The Cross River deep sea port project will be majority private owned. So, if it actually sees the light of day, it will be prohibitively expensive to use compared to 100% government owned ports in Apapa and maybe this one in Ondo. It will therefore die a natural death! Educate yourself please! Oh, I AM FROM NIGER DELTA too but that's neither here nor there!!!

why did u neglect the fact that delta and rivers got more seaports than lagos.. were u expecting another seaports in South South when almost all states in that region got one?....ondo is the only Niger Delta state that shares border with sea without a seaport...Edo port is under construction.

The Akwa-Ibom State Government and the FG are already working on the Ibaka Sea port so what are you talking about?Ondo has the longest coastline/ depth in the country and it's close to Lagos and also the east if they easterners that have no sea want to use it.

the deepest coastline in Nigeria is in Akwa Ibom... Don't know where you people get your facts from

u aren't getting it......sea doesn't have barriers like rivers. rivers do have distributaries, tributaries, gorges, rapids, cataract etc....but sea don't

You probably dont know what a deep sea port is. There is only ONE deep seaport in Nigeria today. It is in Apapa! It handles over 85% of shipping activities in Nigeria. FACT

The issue is proximity to Lagos (where there's a port already) and the areas where a port is needed. There are ijaws in Lagos too so I dont see your point.

2nd naija bridge is a federal project oooo...who is fielding u with lies and hatred?

the one in ibom(biggest and most expensive in naija) is far bigger than the proposed one in ondo.....just like the mambilla dam(biggest and most expensive in Nigeria) located in plateau..both ibom port and mambilla are private-public owned....they are above 4.5 billion dollars each

u are obviously commenting with sentiments and Ur hatred is beyond me...the fact that private companies are contributing doesn't mean it is a private project...2nd naija bridge is 85 percent federal project..ibom seaport is 80 percent federal and state project same as mambilla power plant, the new wing of Lagos international airport..most of federal projects are private-public owned with federal government owning the majority

you guys are the ones tgat are blinded by tribalism. So you mean in your hearts of hearts your conscience dont speak same to you? Lagos as it stands has 4ports. Calaba port was the national ports when Calaba was the nations capital, but everything is now moved to Lagos, why are you too greedy? Share the resources, infrastructures to every one. The Sputh west is not the only region tgat should have all. We have Lekki ports, the Badagri ports under construction, dangote prots making the toyal to 6. why cant the South south who happens to have more shore lines than the entire sputh west. Well we the aouth south people are patiently waitong. Just knw this spoon yorubas are using to feed others shall be used to feed you too. all na time sha.

If you can see the future, you will surely see that from Ibeju-Lekki in Lagos down to Ondo Via proposed coastal road has a very bright future. The deep sea port in Ibeju-Lekki is less than three hours drive to Ondo.

But more coastal states in the south South Region should have a deep sea port most especially Onitsha because of the high level of commercial activities in the city.
.
