The question is..... since they can sandfill the construction site for heavy trucks to move materials, why can't they just sandfill that very place and build the road on it without building the bridge?

Won't it save more than building the bridge? undecided

LMAO, You really do think upside down! How will boats and ships cross?

Yes they can...by placing very many large pipes below the constructed road to allow for water flow

You are technically building a Dam in that case. One major issue with that is, you will permanently shut off the water way for boats and shallow ships to pass through.

The work will be futile.. It's one of the longest rivers in Africa, imagine the force, the flooding...

Apart from that, from an environmental ethics and sustainable development POV, do you know how many aquatic life, the biodiversity that depends on that flow? Then further downstream, do you know the millions of people that depend on it for food, and as the only means of livelihood?

Will the pipes have the capacity to contain over 100,000 tonnes capacity of goods and lorries at every second the lorries ,cars and goods drive on them?

Hehehe.. haba! You want them to totally block the path of a major flowing river like the Niger? If they block it completely, the flowing water will always find a way to keep flowing till it empties into the Atlantic. The only problem is that the new path which the river river will inevitably create may just go through people's houses and communities; it could swallow entire cities.

Meanwhile, boats and ships still need to pass that route.

And they still hate Buhari. What your brother Goatluck could not do for 5.5 wated years, what your party PDP could not do for 16 miserable years, your enemy, the Fulani herdsman called Buhari is doing it. May God not make us beg our enemy for food. The money in imPatience Jonathan accounts can build this bridge.

Stop writing nonsense.

We don't hate him (Buhari), we simply don't rate him as capable and competent hand. He's too slow, bigoted, and not fit for 21st century leadership anywhere in the world. There are far better and capable people in Nigeria than this thing - Buhari.

We won't say because he's continuing with the bridge we should overlook all his bigotry and obvious failing. As far as we are concern, if he can't do his job he should leave it for someone more capable.

This would weaken the structure....Your idea is good but if it was safe/perfect, I'm sure so many developed countries would've done away with bridge constructions.....

While you're deceiving them with a bridge pls don't fail to tell them that you're not funding the bridge but a toll will be placed on the bridge for at least 50years to refund the company funding the bridge..... #StayWokeNaija
The tolling was the original idea when the bridge was conceived in 2014. But the current government cancelled the tolling arrangement; the bridge is currently being built by FG alone, no more PPP.

Don't die of ignorance, can you build something on top of nothing. Look underneath the first Niger bridge again when you are making use of it. You have to look from a far distance before you get to bridge, you will closely see those pillars in which the coal tar are standing on. You will only see this when you look from far distance not when you are already on the bridge

Whatever.

Fact is Buhari is doing no one a favour but doing his job.

He deserves no accolade for continuing a job and there is no guarantee in any case that he will finish it.

He still stands the worst president ever to have presided over Nigeria!

They can't as it will lead to flooding of the communities along the banks. You can block the path of water

And if you notice, they aren't blocking the entire path of the river, just a section. When they want to build the other part, they will open the one they blocked.

see our super mod response , wow
