First of all, I want to you use God to beg you, do not remind me of my moniker. I created this thread so we all can learn from it. Also try as much as possible to not base your reply on the current happenings in Nigeria. Also I’m not a very good writer so bear with me and this thread was inspired by a topic I read on QUORA, and I DID BORROWED FEW QUOTES TO SUM THIS THREAD.

I will implore the older folks here to please contribute to the thread as it will really help to shape the younger ones life. But I’ll go first.

My existence on earth has been nothing but like an illusion to me. Sometimes I daydream about my funny childhood memories and laugh, but I still wonder how my childhood that seems like yesterday is indeed 4 decades already. What is the purpose of our existence if we are to be honest with ourselves? Life has no purpose in my own understanding, the only purpose is to live here and now as tomorrow isn’t guaranteed for you to fulfill your “imaginary purpose” if you think you have one .

I read something on quora few days ago. There’s this quote a writer made that I will never forget.

“Most people spend half of their life trying to understand why something(the bad side of life) happened to them”

I can relate to the above quote. When I was a kid I thought I was special(every kid feels this way) I thought I should be held in high esteem, I thought I would grow up to be the greatest, I thought a lot of good things about myself. In my early 20s, I started feeling a strong hatred for my guardian because they didn’t place me where I should be and they didn’t shower me with so much love(Thinking they took all my beautiful childhood dreams from me). From my early 20s to late 20s I had this same thoughts in mind, using it as an excuse to satisfy my (then)current state and my poor state of mind whenever I see others attaining great heights.

Here I am today, in my early 40s, I have come to realize “giving life(by birth) is all that really matters, it’s all that is required to experience this “illusion like” thing we call LIFE. Every other specs that comes after that(giving life) is an added bonus to help shape your existence on this earth for the better. Giving life is all that is required for you to feel life, live life and do life as it pleases you.

The journey ahead isn’t predictable, seeing tomorrow is grace for everyone of us. But there’s one thing I would have like we humans to implement. 10 years ago I watched my grandma clocked 80. Her independence was cutting short as a human, her organs were failing, she was bedridden for another 8 years, being fed and taken care of. Seeing a once active and lively being get so old and bedridden for that years was one of the most gory sight I seen. I shed tears seeing her in that state. There was a day she saw me looking at her and she noticed the pity look on my face then she smiled and said [in my native language] “my journey is about to end, BUT I WISH SOMEONE CAN END IT ALL FOR ME AS IM TIRED OF WAITING, I’m still wondering how I got here within this short time that seemed like yesterday”.

For me I want to experience old age, I want to for once sit and watch the younger folks go about their daily activities as they hustle to make ends meet like I once did and then give them advice and life lectures. But not to the point of loosing my independence at old age. I’d rather have “it” ended biologically than wait for the “time”. It pains me to know we all are on a long queue heading somewhere which is actually nowhere.

Well that’s all for now, I’ll have more to say when I clock 60s and 70s which is just two decades from now grin , I’ll really appreciate matured contributions. This to me is educative and worth nairaland front page but I’m not asking for that.

EDITED: please after going through this topic and the comments, DO NOT LET WHAT YOU READ HERE TO RESHAPE YOUR BELIEF ABOUT LIFE. Stand with what you believe in and live your life.

I think we are here for each other, LIFE is very short, so we should live everyday loving, helping those we can and lastly making peace with those around you.

These are the basic things guiding me, I'm irreligious thou, but life to me is LOVE.

To me life is both ugly and beautiful, we have ups and downs and we make mistakes that we sometimes regret and sometimes are grateful for, but it depends on what you think and make of it

We are just slightly intelligent species trying to make sense out of our existence and we aren't special than any other earthlings smiley

I often feel like each life is a story book, that has been written before we were born, I've had alot of bad days and some good days, at every point in my life am reminded am better than someone, I wish God did not create the feeling of pain, that way no one would be jealous, bitter or frustrated but you just keep going no matter how life plays out. Just recently I have learnt to live a day at a time and I have accepted that it is OK to cry sometimes.
Evrytime someone dies am reminded that life is empty, today is given and tomorrow is not sure, but I can never doubt the fact that there is a God, so I keep praying, receiving answers sometimes and other times no answers but in all these things we are more than a conqueror, for Christ in us is the hope of Glory

what you wrote above is what qualifies one for heaven. But sadly I’m beginning to believe it’s a fairy tale. I believe there’s a God, a superior being, not the Christian God, not the Muslim God, not any other God but the one and true God that governs all souls on earth.

Life is nothing but a string of births and rebirths in an attempt to pay off our Karmic debts thereby gaining the necessary impetus to rise above the cycle of rebirth which man has been bound. Once you are able to break free from the cycle, you move on to the next level where you also attempt to break the cycle and so on.

Life's path for most people is a circular one of birth and rebirth. Only the strong (that is those who have achieved spiritual strength) eventually move a step up and convert their circular path into a spiral one.

In other words, most of the things that have happened to you and the situations you found yourself at birth is as a result of your past living. What your next life is going to be like is being constructed by you right now.

If you do not satisfy your Karmic debt in this life, be rest assured you are coming back and you'll be given situations and circumstances that will help you fulfil your destiny, which is to pay your Karmic debt, gain enough spiritual strength and ascend the ladder by converting your circular path to spiral.

That is why the only real thing that matters in this life is doing unto others what you want to be done to you, the golden rule.

That is the essence of our lives. That's the only way we can break the circle of birth and rebirth and convert it to a spiral. And that is why no two people have the same destiny. That is why a lot of religious people pray for something and they seem never to get it. That is why it seems as if good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people.

Those who hasten their particular incarnation by committing suicide will only come back and be placed in the same situation over and over again until they learn the lesson they were meant to imbibe in the first place.

so peeps, stay woke and be mindful of your Karmic destiny.

I believe in a Supreme being (God), but I think he doesn't interfere in the affairs of men (Humans), most things happening here on earth are results of the decisions we humans made in the past.

Heaven is probably an illusion (Sorry to my religious folk if I sound offensive), that's how i just see it. So I'm living life the best way I can, loving those around me and trying to do the little I can for humanity, nothing is too small, just put smile on people's face.

That's just life for me.

Life is a journey, what you pass through is a combination of your ancestor's past lives, your mental strength or weakness, your spiritual life, spiritual forces and your choices. Life is short, those who live fast lives don't handle aging well, the beauty of old age is the wisdom you acquire on your journey. Even when you grow old, find something to keep you busy, if you retire fully, you die faster. It's an interesting journey but full of thorns, just like a video game where you have to avoid the bad guys to score your points

Since I was 7, I've had this twisted belief that everything we see here is just an illusion. We're just in state of very deep dream grin grin.

But somehow, as I grew older I've held on to this weird belief. I believe that our mind may actually be the only 'real' stuff we have.......and our experiences in this dream world is just our mind projections. I believe that our illusory circumstances can somehow be hacked to give us frequent good results (don't know how).

I believe that time is meaningless. All the 'time' we know is just 'NOW'. In other words, 6 August 1982 and 6 August 2019 is just same day. Everything exists in this illusory world now!

It's not as simple as that. No Divine power has foisted anyone on anybody. He's just another human being raking up karmic debt just like the rest of humanity.

Don't be surprised though that the people feeling the pinch of his bad economy the most were probably dictators in previous lifetimes.

Of course this is just a presumption as nobody is given knowledge of their past lives, usually.

When will all the leaders from independence till date start reaping the effects of their misdeeds because I still see them drinking champagne, fúçkiñg hoes and living in affluence while millions of Nigerians are suffering from hunger and starvation daily, Obasanjo, Abdusalami, Babangida, Ernest shonekan, Buhari, Jonathan and all politicians from 1979 till date are still enjoying the billions stolen from the treasury of Nigeria, money that should be used to fix good roads that is killing Nigerians daily is in the private vault of politicians, money meant to provide adequate security for Nigerians is in the pockets of thieves called politicians and Nigerians are suffering from the actions /inactions of thieves called politicians, I wonder why karma is slow in flogging them grin

You got it wrong bro. Most people don't understand the meaning of Karma.

It is one of the Seven Laws governing the Cosmos also known as the law of Cause and Effect.

Most often, Karmic debt is paid in another life time.

Sometimes you see someone born deformed for no reason at all. Look to his past lives. None of those you mentioned will pay in this life. Most of us won't.

I'll give you an example from the Bible.

Elijah the prophet slaughtered the priests of Baal when they couldn't make a miracle happen. He put all of them to the sword.

Centuries later as confirmed by the Scriptures and Jesus the Christ Himself, Elijah reincarnated as John the Baptist.

Wait for it... Guess how John the Baptist died?

He was beheaded with the sword.

I hope you get my point now.

Remember the great Master's occultic and mystical words to Peter? "He who lives by the sword will surely die by the sword".

Karmic consequences are faced in another lifetime.

I read an article somewhere and it talked about acts of mercy / compassion done by humans to fellow humans mitigate the effects of karma or it reduces the effects of karma on that individual based on what he / she did in the previous times, what is your take on that? Secondly are you a freemasonry member based on your profile signature wink

That is true. Good works mitigate your Karma. The Bible says something like alms giving covering multitude of sins. Giving of alms to the poor is popular with the major religions in the world.

Whatever good you do comes back to you. Same with evil deeds. It's a basic law of the Cosmos.

No I'm not a Freemason. I'm an aspiring Yogi. But I like to think I'm also Catholic.
