I support this gesture. Catholic Church in the eastern region has done more good to our educational system. Instead of allowing the government to be doing too much and be using it as an excuse not to focus on the key areas of development, let some private sector or religion set help out in some social responsibility. Collaborating with government in areas like school and health will help us a lot

Have the churches in the SE helped in reducing the rate of baby factories, drug dealers and kidnappers in the SE?
May be they can also help in reducing the rate at which every crawling babies are running to the SW from the SE.

Mixing State and Religion is ok in the SE, but try the small thing in the North or SW and the evil children of IPOB will be here by now wailing and crying about islamization and other trash.
That's when they will remember that Nigeria is a secular state. Bunch of retarded brainwashed religous fanatical hypocrites.

It is very simple, SE is the only region in Nigeria with 98% Christians; even traditionalists will vouch for Christianity. There will be no comment on such act but try it elsewhere; SS, SW, NE, NW NC all have two or more religions cohabiting. Hence, the wailing.

The church have helped, invaluably.
The govt need to do a lot but the church have helped too.

The point of discussion is how has the church helped in anambran education compared to the mosques in the.North.
I have given you your answer.
Anambra would be ahead of every northern state educationally for the next 1000 years because of the church.

This is the arrangement that moved Anambra state to a great hight in education. I am glad it has not stopped. The good thing about this is that the Ministry of Education, Anambra will still follow up with detailed account of how this money is spent. The mission will give detailed account. Sometimes the money will not be enough to allow a particular school erect the type of structure they want. The mission will supplements. I have been actively involved in education in Anambra. St. Felix Parish Nise was given some money for a classroom block, they supplemented and erected one_storeyed building containing several classrooms. The building is there opposite the church for you to see and confirm. The same thing happened at St. Anthony 's Enugu_Ukwu. The Revolution in Education in Anambra is propelled more by free will donations than what the government gives. All the money given to government owned schools, there is nothing to show for it. Only the mission schools are doing Anambrarians proud.

The point of discussion is the separation of church/mosque and State. if this had happened in other parts of the country, IPOB miscreants would have filled the pages with cries and noise about how Nigeria is supposed to be a secular State.
Go back and read from the beginning.

Nope, the catholic Igbos will continue to sideline and marginalize the Anglican Igbos. Obiano is just carrying out the motive of the average domineering Catholic Igbos.

Wake me up when he reciprocate the gesture for the Anglican Igbos.

This is the arrangement that propelled Anambra State to a great hight in Education. The State works hand-in-hand with the mission. Please don't think that the money is for dash. Lai lai. The ministry of education in Anambra will follow up immediately to see that not even one naira is miss-used. The mission is mandated to render detailed account of the expenses othwise the Permanent Sec in Education will be in hot soup. The works will be thoroughly supervised. The good thing is that when the money is distributed to schools, sometimes it will not be enough to build exactly the type of structure a particular school wants then the mission will supplement. Eggs. St. Feliz Parish Nise in Awka South was given some money for a classroom block. The Priest FR. Cyril Okpala organized the mission. They donated and built one - storeyed building containing many classes. The same thing happened at St. Anthony Parish Enugu_Ukwu. Mission schools are doing well in Education. All the money given to government owned schools and colleges, there is nothing to show for it. The Revolution in Education in Anambra is propelled more by free will donations than what the government gives. The little given to missions they use it very well. Other states should learn from Anambra

Catholic Mission Schools!
The cheque was presented to Catholic Mission Schools
So much of religious wars / wores in Anambra State.
Very shameful.
I'm not a catholic, but what's your problem with the Catholic church? And the schools they handle or manage?

Historicallyin Nigeria, schools managed by churches have always performed better than the ones managed by the government.

If you hate religion or Christianity as the case maybe, it's your very personal problem and should never influence the way the people of the state decide to spend her money especially on things that would greatly affect the state positively.

you're the one who's stupidly brainwashed.

Have you heard of anywhere int eh south east or the entire Igboland where anybody is forced to abide by any religion?

These churches have played a huge role in the state from time immemorial, what's your problem? you'd feel better if you focus your energy on your state and how her affairs are run than focusing on the South east that doesn't care about your existence.

Moreover the money given wasn't even tithe, offering or free money to church but to be used on schools that'll in turn benefit the citizens.
