Monogamy is a Westerner's idea which emanates from their believe in Xtianity

abeg sharap.

monogamy was practiced in ancient rome and greece, long before christianity got there.

iran has a culture of monogamy even though it's a muslim country.

monogamy was also the norm in the assyrian, mesopotamian and egyptian empires. In short, the ancient middle east.

Goals The No. 1 issue RuneScape Gold have to deal

with when they decide to go for gladiator isn't about gear, teammates or even skill. If you are a

dedicated raider in a competitive progression guild, you can relate to what we'll be discussing today.

The issue is the desire to attain goals and sacrifices that must be Buy WOW

Gold
. Some players want gladiator far more than others, just like some players want to be the first

on their realms (or first in the world) to slay dragons. I'll be the first to admit that I don't care a

whole lot about slaying dragons. I was once in a top 50 U.S. guild but left

Cheap WOW Gold because raiding required too many hours that could be

spent playing arena (which I enjoy considerably more) or doing necessary IRL stuff

WOW Gold.

Shatap dia mister historian, what concerns me about mesopotamia or ancient greece? I am a greek or Mesopotamian? is this a mesopotamian forum? abeg go siddon if you don't know what to talk about, Polygamy has been practised in Nigeria from time immemorial the idea of one man one wife came from the British colonialists and for people like you who believes in anything about white men culture being superior to our traditional culture I'll not waste my time arguing on this with you.

Ok everybody does what he wants but as for me being a second wife will never be a dream, not even an alternative or option,

Because of your nasty misbehaviour on innocent people here, you got punished by restricting your posts, that's fair! I wish they do so a lot more to trouble makers like and your kind on here.

abeg get lost!!!!!!

polygamy being widespread in the olden days doesnt mean everybody practised it!!

monogamy was just considered a sign of being poor and underpriviledged that's all.

not every man wanted to be a polygamist even back then!! Some were forced while others were simply ignored for not being mainstream.

end of.

na wa o.
these things happen everyday in naija o

come to kano and see hausa men marrying 4 wives! am sure most nairalanders here wud shoot wives no 2,3 & 4 cos they married another woman's husband that came to chase them.

no one is blaming this man at all and its so annoying.

remember this lady is a single mum which in a place like lag wud be difficult for her get married to a single guy cos she wud be labelled 'after one'.
she made a choice to marry a married man that at one point forgot he was someone's husband before proposing or sleeping with her.

abeg make una leave d girl. its her choice.

who cares if you believe monogamy is the best for you why criticising others who want to practise polygamy? its their choice and its their life not yours.

and where did i criticize those practicing polygamy?

do you have a problem with people having different views from yours?

much sensitive arent you!

you are criticizing monogamy but getting your knickers twisted when you think others are criticizing polygamy.

1. monogamy preceded christianity so your assumption is wrong.

2 keep churning out the world's labour force for those who are more far sighted.

3 just go and sit down!! If you want to marry 10 wives who's stopping you!

4. when the money dries up, then we'll know who really "loves" who.

Fact:

someone saying she wants her husband to marry more wives after her, doesnt mean the incoming wives will want her there. We are africans and we know how we do our things.

i dont understand what you guys meant by saying she married the man because of his money, for crying out loud, the lady is rich in her own way. She has enough money to take care of herself.
You never can tell what attracted her to the man
sometimes you fall in love or settle down with people you never taught you would even have anything to do with.
Although,i'm not in support of her marriage to a man who have his own wife. The woman will definately be sad.
My point is,it might not be because of the money, though is very wrong. I love her{especially in movies} anyway.

@Tpia
i don't care about your history prowess and do not intend to argue with you about any history as that is not my area of specialisation, so if you believe monogamy is not a xtian idea so be it.

Secondly, I have absolutely no problem about people having a contrary opinion about my point of view, personally I am a monogamist and will remain one for ever but I detest the idea of criticising people who believes in polygamy or having an holier than thou attitude. You may not come out frankly ti criticise polygamy but your insinuation of equating polygamy to money ' when the money dries up' says it all
Thirdly, I do not criticise monogamy in any of my post I only gave an example of how monogamy and women 'liberation' in the west has failed them and almost destroy their family lives, there are many instances of how polygamy too has led to jealousy, strife and even murder so in the end i'm only approaching Mercy's case with an open mind rather than taken sides.
You don't need to insinuate that I'll like to marry 10 wives or advise me to.
What you need to do is to open your mind and stop acting like a bigot!

yet where are you typing from?

the west.

and plz spare me the sob story. You are criticizing monogamy so kindly allow others to state their views even if you dont like it.

this particular lady is being criticized because she's a celebrity.

i'm sure, if the reason for the break up with her previous marriage were known, it would involve the husband cheating with another woman.

prove me wrong.

and yes, i'll like to see how long the love will last when the man's money vanishes.

being rich herself, she'll support him, right?

very true say. case by case basis. this life sha. we all need prayers. some women hate polygamy but it comes to meet them through their husbands. others go out to search for it or are wooed by the men and they fall for whatever reason. each case is different and the reasons are also different. God will help us.

we are all very happy in nigeria and would never trade that great opportunity to stay in the country, for an overseas visa. Our system is an excellent one and we dont kill or hate ourselves.

life is very complex with plenty complicated conundrums. happy to hear that you are very happy in nigeria. its home and the best treatment one can ever get is in one's own country. our system works. no doubt. westerners may not marry more than one at the same time but the divorce rate aint nothing to write home about, with numerous people marry 2 or 3 times in a lifetime. not too dissimilar to polygamy in my view, just spaced apart

the divorce rate in nigeria isnt that far behind either.

my point is why do we keep glorifying every little thing we call culture yet at the same time run away to the west with a clearly different system which is working for them.

if we're so much attached to our way of life and must attack anyone who doesnt say what we want, then surely we should be able to stay in nigeria and live the talk.

This lady should just shut it!what is she trying to prove?where has it ever been seen or heard that the first wife ever ok with a second one?If u've seen one just know that she's pretending. It would have been better if she said she couldn't speak on her behalf but that they are trying to get along.Am a first wife and pray to be the last in my husband's house, can't imagine one kereku girl honing in on my territory and expecting me to be ok with it.

well spoken. the first wife can never be happy that her husband is taking another, most accept it, cos sometimes the alternative is outright divorce

look, its a free world and anybody is welcome to be anyone's second, third, or twentieth wife, but i'd assume anyone so inclined, wouldnt be overly sensitive to people's criticism and should have a thick skin.

we all make choices which we have to live with.

if it's your choice to be a polygamous man or woman, good for you but dont go round attacking others for voicing their opinion.

just suck it up and enjoy the man you're sharing. Your man or y'alls man- whichever aplies.

abi the naysayers are sharing him and his goodies with you? so why the rancor.

when you drive by in your new car and see the antagonistic monogamist by the roadside, waiting for okada, be sure to splash him or her with muddy water.

[b]Hey! I'm unperturbed either way, ok!!

Now, I want you to reflect, do you remember I told you earlier that, you are a bully?

Thanks for portraying it on here once, again! At least Nairalanders can confirm that for themselves.  Imagine you trespassing into my essay just to remove the torn causing you everlasting pain - you shrunk my texts because you consider your choice of font best for me, isn't it? Control freak!!!!!!!

Well, that says it all about you. Only intelligent people on here could see how primitive your attitude is - a nasty piece of work, you are!

With this behaviour, you think you can control people, do you?  Well, if you don't know who to control read this: the person I should  control is that person looking at me in that mirror - meeeeeeeeeeeee!!!grin grin grin Yes, you gorit, yourself!

Now, stop deluding yourself no matter how much of my texts you try to shrink, you WILL READ ME ON HERE until you learn to be civil.

May I say it again, paaaaasss if my texts are a torn in your eyes, hear it! You don't NEED to read my work, ok?  You don't NEED to---please! I have tried to imagine why anyone in their right mind would subject him/herself to reading a piece of work that cause them pain, I wonder!

Obviously, I'm sure you and your kind  love my writing otherwise, why would you keep punishing yourselves, reading my work when you admitted, I can't be redeemed.  Why bother??  Please, get a 'Life'.

At times, l compare this nairaland to NigerianVillageSquare and other online forums!

This Nairaland is obviously full of people you can refer to as "children", in terms of reasoning and cognitive abilities!
Imagine, someone marries a husband, as a second wife and some people are already having a stroke over it?

I am yet to hear the first wife come to Nairaland to ask for help yet some "gba-ran-mi-di-eleru" (those who cry more than the bereaved grin ) have already developed "long-distance migraine" all in an effort to sound super!

I can assure you, if not for the anonymity of the internet, you will be surprised that some of this cunts criticizing her and calling her husband snatcher are:
(a) failed marriages
(b) chronic adulterers
(c) lonely lesbians and gays!

Some of you will eventually fall in a worse situation than her in future (at least she takes her own with some calmness and seems to have found love!)

That idiot calling her Hagai, so u read Genesis very well but you did not read beyond that otherwise you will know that even David (Apple of God's wife), Solomon (Whom God gave the greatest wisdom and "every other thing he did not ask for), Jacob and many more anointed of God are polygamous!

By the way, WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE HER?
Have you even crossed that line called marriage?
If you have, will you commit suicide if your husband marries a second wife (and l suspect he will not even share you, he will dump you first), will you commit suicide?

This idea that a Husband is a personal property is stupid and just exposes the inner greed in most humans.

If you want to know your spouse, despite the "In health or in sickness, in poverty or in riches Vows" you both took, tell her you have a second wife and her true self will surface! Give it a test.
Its not about religion, its actually all about "economics and power of control".

Its all because she thinks she owes you, thats why everything was smooth in the first place after all, she will be the only one to inherit you when she decides she had enough of you! grin

Leave the woman alone with her stinking feet (put yours here for us to see, l dare YOU!)
Monkey no fine, im mama like am.

Anyway, Nairaland is all about idle gossip and no intellectual value is added.
