Playing a high defensive line is a big gamble. You need a pacy, intelligent defender who can mark not only the players but can mark the passes, intercept and make blocks and interceptions.

There's a reason why when many attackers play against Van dijk, they barely touch the ball. Van dijk will be in the middle of the pitch all through the game because he has recovery speed and interception.

He doesn't have to. When u don't defend a player one on one, u put him off guard bcus when u don't rush outside, it gives u time to anticipate what he wants to do.

Case in point 1) Spurs 2 on 1 chance Vs Liverpool. 2) City's 2 on 1 chance Vs Liverpool in the community shield.

That’s a careless achievement. It doesn’t match up. The Arsenal fanbase expected nothing less than 3 points but couldn’t even deliver a single point.

Our system requires that the fullbacks push up high up the pitch and attack then the midfielders drop back to circulate the passes and look for spaces for mane and salah.

Our fullbacks don't even defend when we are in the opposition half. The way our system is setup, when mane, salah, firmino, Arnold or Robertson lose the ball in attack, you'll have to beat pacy Henderson,and and fabinho together, before you meet the centre backs matip and VVD.

If you attempt to give a long pass to the attack, VVD will either block the ball or use his speed to get the ball before the attacker.

Go and look at our recent games with big teams at anfield. Against Chelsea hazard barely touched the ball, against arsenal, aubameyang barely touched the ball, against man utd, lukaku same story. ..

The only way to dribble Van dijk is to get the ball, but how can you get the ball when VVD is fast enough to get to the ball before you?

you are right. CB is a very dirty job because once a striker passes you, he's one on one with the keeper VVD keep running backwards even in international matches thereby putting his keeper at risk that was how Gnabry just ignored him and scored in their match against Germany. CB's aren't scared of getting dribbled or even getting booked they just try to make sure you don't get close to the goalkeeper. He's lucky Alison is very good
