League Of Nigerian Graduates:for The Records. by legra4gu: 3:01pm On Oct 25, 2010
Having watched events unfold in the last few months in our polity, especially as we approach 2011, Nigerian Graduates of higher institutions have come under one indivisible umbrella, LEAGUE OF NIGERIAN GRADUATES, to make decisive declarations. As stakeholders in the developmental project of our dear country, we are very worried that if things are not done right presently, our generation and those yet unborn will bear the brunt.
We hereby resolve and declare as follows;
1. That the unemployment crisis ravaging Nigerian graduates has reached a very dangerous dimension, and that it needs urgent and very effective attention.

2. That Nigeria, the Giant of Africa, has remained at the bottom of developmental ladder for so long, and that we are in haste to see leaders who will take the country up the ladder.

3. That we shall work assiduously towards free, fair and credible elections that will usher in credible people who will lead the country to the Promised Land comes 2011.

4. That the 2011 polls should be devoid of bitterness, rancor, thuggery, rigging and assassinations.

5. That the kidnapping of fellow Nigerians by armed militants, presently seen as a lucrative trade, is condemnable, evil, unfortunate and demonic. That this heinous crime is alien to our society and must be stopped.

6. That the Independence day bombing, which claimed many lives was an act perpetrated by people sent from the pit of hell. That the perpetrators of the bastardized act be brought to face the full wrath of the law no matter their social, political and economical status.

7. That the persistent closure of major roads in the Federal Capital Territory by Security Operatives each time there is an event, which has Mr. President in attendance causing untold hardship to the people is no longer acceptable. Nigerians should not be denied their freedom of movement.
8. That we condemn in STRONG TERMS all actions, inactions and utterances by political leaders and elder statesmen capable of causing disaffection, anarchy and restiveness in the country. The unity of this country is sacrosanct!

9. That the high level of poverty and illiteracy in the North is no longer acceptable. A situation where the youths in the North cut nails, dig gutters, collect refuse, push wheel-barrow, sell kola nut and do the most demeaning jobs while their counterparts in the South fly all over the world in pursuit of their careers and businesses is rather unfortunate. We are so displeased with the Northern elders and leaders, who rather than face this big challenge, continue to play politics of deceit and selfishness. We call on the Federal, State and Local governments to tackle this menace as soon as possible.

10. That all Nigerian youths, especially graduates should resist every attempt by unscrupulous politicians to use them as political thugs in the 2011 polls.

11. That having studied the antecedents and manifestos of all the presidential aspirants, both in and out of office, only three persons meet our presidential requirements. They include MALLAM NUHU RIBADU, GEN. MOHAMMED BUHARI and DR GOODLUCK EBELE AZIKIWE JONATHAN.

12. That in as much as any of the three aforementioned gentlemen is competent and honest enough to rule us; it is noteworthy that we can only have one President at a time. And so for this and other obvious reasons, we have resolved to give our unalloyed support to DR GOODLUCK EBELE AZIKIWE JONATHAN.

13. That we believe in DR GOODLUCK JONATHAN, and see him as someone who will fulfill his campaign promises to Nigerians; fight corruption headlong, promote peace, unity, equity, justice, and most importantly, CREATE JOBS for the teeming unemployed youths.

14. That as graduates themselves, we believe that GOODLUCK JONATHAN and NEMADI SAMBO will offer quality leadership.

15. That we shall move to the hinterlands and educate the rural dwellers on election matters and on why they should vote for DR GOODLUCK JONATHAN.

16. That we plead with GEN. IBRAHIM BABANGIDA, ALH. ATIKU ABUBAKAR and GEN. ALIYU GUSAU to see reasons and step down for their younger brother, DR GOODLUCK JONATHAN.

17. That Dr Bukola Saraki SHOULD STEER CLEAR of the Presidential race comes 2011. We are so disheartened by the political development in Kwara state where the Saraki family has turned the state into a family business. This is mischievous, detestable, callous and unacceptable as it is sending wrong signal to future leaders.

18. That we shall not vote for candidates that have raped us, stolen from us, mortgaged our future, turned this country’s head upside down, made us stay at home for years as undergraduates, turned the naira to three week old odd-fix pool paper (Ehikhamenor, V., 2010), denied us jobs years after graduation, institutionalized corruption, encouraged 419 and drug pushing, killed our people in stage-managed plane crashes, letter bombs, ‘armed robbery’, and most recently,

the Independence Bomb Blast. Such persons shall NEVER be touched with a 10-foot pole.

19. That all delegates who will be voting at the Parties’ primaries should put the interest of the nation first before their personal interests. They should not sell their consciences to Money Bags who are ready to spend the last kobo of their ill-gotten wealth to clinch party tickets. Posterity will surely remember them for that.

20. That INEC should strive hard to conduct the freest and fairest election in Nigeria, assuring them that the election will not be ANNULLED.

21. That all Nigerians of voting age should not fail to get registered when INEC commences the voters’ registration exercise. This is not the era of seizing power through the barrels of the gun but only through the voters’ card.

22. Finally, we call on all Progressive graduates and well-meaning Nigerians to join ‘LEAGUE OF GRADUATES 4 GOODLUCK’, a socio-political organization formed to ensure JONATHAN’S presidency, and also to enthrone competent and righteous leaders.

We were sent to school to get and bring back light to those in darkness. That we have done for Nigerians; DR. GOODLUCK EBELE AZIKIWE JONATHAN is the Light, and we are proud to be associated with him. We must have nothing to do with Darkness, ‘Evil’ and Backwardness.
The time to make a change is now!
