This is what the Fulani should be doing for the cows. Come to the south to get grass and transport the feed up north. 1 Like 1 Share |

Yes, this is the system expected when cattle are maintained in ranches in the Southsouth and Southeast. This is necessary when the grasses in the ranches are exhausted, especially in the dry season. No roaming of cattle in farmlands anymore. We need peace. Police has demonstrated a good example for us to follow. I hope to become a grass contractor to ranches in my state. So I reject RUGA. Please no vex with me, I need job, 1 Like 1 Share |

naptu2: The issue is the method of transportation. It is a road safety hazard. A covered truck would have been more suitable. Try this as a civilian and see whether you will not be stopped and fined heavily by VIO and FRSC. 2 Likes 1 Share |

stagger: O God! That's not the issue. The issue was that some people said that it was a regular patrol vehicle that had been diverted for private business. Some people had started making insinuations about "someone's cattle" and Fulani herdsmen, when in fact that truck belongs to the Mounted Police Unit. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Nigeria Police Vehicle Transporting Feed For Police Horses (Photos, Video) by naptu2: 8:47pm On Aug 31, 2019 |
teelaw4life: There's nothing wrong with using a pickup truck to haul grass. That's one of the things that pickup trucks were designed for. Those vehicles also belong to the Police Mounted Unit (read what's written on the side of the truck), so it's not like they used regular patrol vehicles to carry grass. The problem in this case is that they dumped too much grass in the truck (overloading) and that the load wasn't properly fastened to prevent it from spilling from the truck or impairing other road users. 1 Like

For clarity sake. 1) Trucks are designed to haul goods. That's one of their main purposes. Many farms have pickup trucks that are used to haul hay, farm produce and equipment. www.nairaland.com/attachments/10142006_agrass_jpegd5d6264245cad86c2062c52393e8c614 www.nairaland.com/attachments/10142007_agrass2_jpeg32800dc7d68e19a6eda6211451a133bf www.nairaland.com/attachments/10142008_agrass3_jpege63dda9f4b839c3bdc57c041f43abf4b 2) That truck is not a regular police patrol vehicle. Read what's written on the side of the vehicle. It belongs to the Nigerian Police Mounted Unit. www.nairaland.com/attachments/10133352_img20190830101954421_jpegcf10dc358b268242d6875c0428ee011e www.nairaland.com/attachments/10139354_troop_jpegda36c10adef6029b5c56c9f9ad4d2d29 3) The Mounted Police is a unit of the Nigerian Police Force. Officers and men of the Mounted Police operate on horseback. They are involved in crowd control (at sports events, political rallies and other such events that have a lot of people), policing street processions, policing areas that have a difficult terrain (e.g. beaches) and police horses are also used in parades and other ceremonial purposes (e.g. escorting the president on Independence Day). www.nairaland.com/attachments/10142292_probuhariprotestaccompaniedbythenigerianpolice810x460_jpegaa19d4862b525ae4718afb5bbc660824 www.nairaland.com/attachments/10139352_nigeriaegypt1lru2eey0dfb31ekspqpyqcxbz_jpegab266c2ea1e1573e82203de22dc11f0a www.nairaland.com/attachments/10139351_20171211t141344z828852446rc1b97458d90rtrmadp2nigeriapolicesars_jpg_jpegf812258e018836806dd0814b7ea21e6d www.nairaland.com/attachments/10139353_h_jpeg8f96da6c00e9de63c24f7b375c75968f www.nairaland.com/attachments/10148682_ahorses_jpegc5cc86b3e8bbf259560671fcf8c0026d www.nairaland.com/attachments/10142287_abuhariarmy2_jpege44835d5987d18b75db797b749ddd333 4) The grass in that truck is used to feed police horses. They are not used for the private business of policemen or their bosses, they are not for Fulani herdsmen or any such civilian group. The grass is used to feed police horses. 5) The mods changed the title of this thread so that it would reflect the fact that the truck belongs to the mounted police and that the grass is going to be used to feed police horses. The original title of the thread did not reflect that fact and that's why many posters on the first page had to explain the purpose of the truck and grass. There have been many similar threads in which people made all sorts of wild allegations, e.g. this one https://www.nairaland.com/5390341/nigerian-police-vehicle-transporting-feed 6) There's nothing strange about this practice. It's done around the world. This is a Chicago Police Department pickup truck hauling grass for their mounted police unit after a Thanksgiving parade. Note the hay on the back of the pickup truck, on the floor and on the payloader. www.nairaland.com/attachments/10142785_38542666666649c6035bdb_jpegd6fc983d89d14a57bed080cddd3a15ae 7) The problem in this case is that they dumped too much grass in the truck (overloading) and that the load wasn't properly fastened to prevent it from spilling from the truck or impairing other road users. |

naptu2: While I agree with you on the part that there's nothing wrong with using a pick-up to move hay for the force's horses, I'd like to state that, that isn't my point. You've shown me examples of pick-ups being used to move grass, but those are clearly unmarked trucks. Can you show me any example of an open police truck being used to move grass for their horses -apart from Nigeria and other African countries? |
Re: Nigeria Police Vehicle Transporting Feed For Police Horses (Photos, Video) by naptu2: 10:58pm On Aug 31, 2019 |
teelaw4life: Please explain what is wrong with using a mounted police truck (mounted police = police on horses) to carry feed for police horses. This is not a patrol vehicle (mounted police do not patrol in trucks). What's wrong with it?? |
Re: Nigeria Police Vehicle Transporting Feed For Police Horses (Photos, Video) by teelaw4life(m): 11:11pm On Aug 31, 2019 |
naptu2: You keep saying mounted as though it stands for "grass moving vehicle".It's only stating the division of the force to which the vehicle belongs. This is like saying it's okay for patrol vans to use their vehicles to move corpses of criminals killed in gunfire. It is not befitting of the force to transport horse feed in such a open manner, and that's what's wrong with it. Show me any other country that utilizes "mounted police" truck to transport grass and I'll hold my peace. |
Re: Nigeria Police Vehicle Transporting Feed For Police Horses (Photos, Video) by naptu2: 11:28pm On Aug 31, 2019 |
teelaw4life: This what you still refuse to understand. THEY ARE NOT PATROL VEHICLES. Mounted police do not patrol in trucks. Those trucks are like company trucks. Mounted police trucks are used to haul horses and horse feed. They are used to haul equipment for the horses. They are not used to patrol the streets! You have refused to state what's wrong with using mounted police trucks to haul horse feed, except for the fact that you are not used to it, because there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. If there was you would have stated it.

Re: Nigeria Police Vehicle Transporting Feed For Police Horses (Photos, Video) by teelaw4life(m): 12:02am On Sep 01, 2019 |
naptu2: No where did i state or suggest or infer that mounted trucks are patrol trucks. Please don't miscontrue or twists my assertions. I am saying for the sake of civility, you do not use a police vehicle (mounted or otherwise) to transport grass in such an open manner. Notice how in your latest pictures, they have attached carriages despite the trucks having space for carrying grass. That's what I'm talking about. I've tried looking up the Force Mounted Troop of the Nigeria Police to see if i can gather additional info about the departments' assets and uses but no dice. I don't have the time, if not I'd have gone to their office to clarify things. No where in the world will the police place grass in the back of their pickup trucks. If they're transporting feed, then it has to be done properly. |
