Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu on Thursday asked the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, to dismiss the petition filed by Alex Otti, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that Otti is the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the 2019 poll, while incumbent Governor Ikpeazu contested and won a second term on the PDP platform.

Otti, who is challenging the victory of Ikpeazu in the March 9 governorship poll, alleged massive irregularities in 15 of 17 Local Government Areas in the state.

Adopting his final written address, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), lead counsel for Ikpeazu, urged the panel to dismiss the petitioner’s (Otti) case for lacking in merit.

He argued that the main document which the petitioners were relying on was procured after their petition had been filed.

On its part, INEC, the second respondent, said the documents tendered by the petitioners did not conform with the schedule of the electoral law, urging the panel to disregard the petition.

But Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), lead counsel for the petitioners, urged the panel to dismiss the objections of the respondents.

He claimed that the aspect of the law in which they were relying upon in their arguments with respect to the use of smart card readers had been changed.

Fagbemi also countered the submission of Olanipekun, saying that INEC never disowned the documents tendered by the petitioners.

After listening to all arguments in the matter, Chairman of the panel, Justice Lekan Ogumonye, reserved judgment for a date to be communicated to all parties.

cool

A state that is supposed to be a force to reckon with in the league of her four neighbouring brothers has totally decayed economically, environmentally, spiritually and fundamentally at its lowest ebb.

Passing through the unfriendly stewardship of rogues known for greed and insatiable quest for continuous embezzlement through thick network of political godfatherism.

I weep for our youths entangled in that geographic space because it will take strong personal discipline and spiritual uprightness to resist the evil that will offshoot from there in no time.

People will soon resort to proud display of charms and ill gotten wealth as bystanders will cheer them on gleefully while searching for an opportunity to join the trend.

This would go viral as idle minds from other spaces will join the bandwagon.

(This is a revelation)

God save your state 'God's own state'.

Okezie you are a disgrace. You think good governance is all about having girlfriends upandan, buying houses for these women and "fixing" the roads that leads to your harems dwelling place.
Issorrite......we shall see this to a logical conclusion.

It's a shame that none of the parties (both Ikpeazu and Otti) could engage the services of very sound igbo lawyers from the South East to handle their cases. We keep enriching outsiders at the expense of our own. We have sound legal minds like Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN; Chief Chris Uche, SAN; Chief Gordy Uche, SAN; Emeka Ngige, SAN; Dr. Livy Uzoukwu, SAN (Atiku's lead counsel), Chief Nnoruka Udechukwu, SAN and several others too numerous to mention and yet Ikpeazu and Otti had to go to the west to hire these men? Igbos make una get sense now.

Okezie Ikpeazu is presently the most corrupt, incompetent and worst governor in the country!

This shameless gorilla-looking id*iot owes workers 16 months of salary arrears and pensioners more than 27 months!

How this imb*ecile sleeps at night while workers are dying due to lack of funds to go to the hospital, is shocking!!
