Lai Mohammed: Attack On South African Businesses Will Hurt Nigerians More by Bimpeusman: 7:35pm On Sep 03, 2019
On Tuesday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, described as deeply disturbing the reports that some Nigerians, angered by the xenophobic attacks in South Africa, have started attacking South African companies in Nigeria.

He said that targeting South African companies in Nigeria for attack is, for Nigerians, a classic case of cutting off your nose to spite your face, because the investors in such companies, especially MTN and Shoprite, are Nigerians.

Alhaji Mohammed said the majority of the workers in the South African companies operating in Nigeria are also Nigerians, meaning that its Nigerian workers who will be hardest hit if such companies are forced to shut down for fear of attacks. He assured Nigerians that the Federal Government is already taking decisive measures to put an end to the persistent xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.

It is not everytime you reveal your pains or losses to your enemies. It is wise to play "strong" to your enemies sometimes even in the face of pain, just to deceive him. Lai Mohammed has always been known to display high level of indiscretion when it matters most. I can't easily forget when he said Senegalese jollof was better than Nigerian jollof in the face of international lime-light. These people are clowns!!!

You are right.

But it wouldn't have been so if you and your fellow corrupt politicians had invested and promoted Nigerian companies with the same services.

This is one of the prizes Nigerians are going to pay for valuing foreigners than their citizens.

The South African businesses in Nigeria you know are multinationals, while the Nigerian businesses they're looting in SA are SMEs. There are other ways to kill a rat. My problem is our government isn't proactive.

BITTER TRUTH....
But those who want violence will never agree.
Cos that is what they have been praying for all along.

What do kids know?
Until your friends come to your door to cry that the little job they are doing to make ends meet is no more, by then you will reboot!

Neddstark:

He is wiser than you a million times. If shoprite closes, who will feed the thousands of workers they employ? Shey na your family? We have sent the message, government has seen. Now lets face the reality and stop stupid violence.
Kelvin30286063:
An attack on one Nigerian is an attack on all Nigerians. But as angry and disappointed as we may be, the best way to go about this is not through violence.
If we decide to melt the same injustice that they melted on our people on them then we are not different from them.
The pain is understandable especially since it's coming from a country every single African bled for when they were in chains and shackles but WE ARE NIGERIANS, we remain their big brother no matter what so let's take things easy and warn them one more time.
Stop looting shoprite, don't hurt people that works there, they are not South Africans.
Stop burning mtn offices, it won't change anything, it will only increase the percentage of unemployment in the country.
We should be wise
Signed
Kelvin Adewale
God bless you guys for this.
It is always good and refreshing to know that we still have reasonable youths like you on this forum.
