Fasting should be a spiritual exercise undertaken with full consideration for one's state of health and personal abilities, not because others have done it, or are doing it... In that case, it shouldn't be the same duration too.

As regards if they embarked on a dry fast, I’m not sure the Bible specified. But I believe to a large extent that it is very possible to embark on a 40-day spiritual dry fast. Nothing is impossible when it comes to the spiritual.

Fasting doesn't kill, he may health challenge. I have fasted 40 days and nothing happened. My advice is that do the one your power Carrie's. Don't go into long fasting because someone close to you is challenging you to do that else 6 feet direct. Avoid self gratification.
