As if the show runners will give a rats ass about their opinion. The series isn't even being made for Nigerian audience in the first place

IMO, they should have picked a competent Nigerian actress. Our actresses (the really good ones o) need an opportunity like this to shine. Anyway, nollywood has to take the blame cos they're too slow. They lack rich ideas. This novel and so many others have been around for sometime now but nollywood has refused to make an adaptation...instead, they're all about the wedding party, chief daddy, merry men, wives on strike and other crap like that. Their audience don't help matters either when you see that a trashy film like the wedding party 2 is the highest grossing Nigerian film.

She is going to be "acting" in a fiction novel.

Two key terms that distance themselves enough from reality. Yet Nigerians still manage to bring up reality.

Nigerians and sentiments! How many African actors are in Lion King? Trevor Noah, a talented South African that has the accent was even ignored. How many African actors were used in Madagascar? These movies are Hollywood movies and not Nollywood, so the cast directors and producers would audition Hollywood actors before considering other options, if they would. Mind you, big budget movies do hire speech therapists, linguists and others to help their actors portray their characters well.
We are not financing the movie and we do not have the right to choose any actor. If you don't like it, don't go to the cinema when it is out. Or, let Tonto Dikeh write her own and do the Nollywood version.

Igbos are generally not as dark as Lupita which will make the entire thing look fake. She will be best fit for role as Edo, Bayelsa or Yoruba where a greater percentage are that dark.

Nigerians and entitlement mentality. Always feeling that you owe them explanation for doing what you wanna do with your life.

When Banky W, a Yoruba, played an Igbo role as Dozie Onwuka in the movie "Wedding Party ", how many of them reacted and condemned it?

But because they are jealous of Lupita, they decided to wail unnecessary.

Maybe Eniola Badmus should be picked over Lupita because she's a Nigerian.

This tribal nonsense is so confusing, what exactly is a Yoruba person self

I won't be surprised if all southerners are from the same stock with a common ancestor, but different languages.

We should also consider the financial implication. This is business. Which Nigerian actress has the kind of world acclaim as Lupita? Warner are considering the bucks.

Wow, you mean she's going to pretend to be something she isn't in front of the camera for pay? It's like she's some type of actress or something.

A movie to be shot in America, where we have black actors everywhere and you're expecting them to come to Nigeria to come and look for actor. Una no serious.
I'm sure the main language to be spoken in the movie will be English with possibly an African accent. The accent mustn't be too Aftican though, as their main target audience will be Americans who need to understand what's being said.

Do igbos look like south africans? Why did an igbo actor play former south african president Thabo mbeki?South africans could have also say igbos are way too dark to play a south african role.

You all should remember its not a documentary but a movie. Any good actress can do it. She'll even do very well since she lives or has lived in Africa and the US.

Firstly, Of course Igbos don't look like South Africans, the only Africans that look somewhat like Igbos are other eastern Nigerians.

Secondly, If what you say is true then that is something that South Africans should have taken up with whatever white people produced and directed that movie, because no Nigerian knows nor cares about whatever you are talking about.

Thirdly, why is exactly that a Congolese fellow like yourself continues to roam around a Nigerian board and put your mouth in Nigerian affairs when you could be happily roaming around Congolese discussion forums?

Well there's Genevieve and Stephanie Okereke. They're two world class actresses who've starred in movies at that level and I believe could have done justice to the movie, being Ibo. But then, lupita BOUGHT the rights. You can't tell her what to do with her money.
