With NNPC's 445k bpd+ Dangote's 650k bpd, Nigeria will not only meet her demand but will also meet that of her neighbours.

By then, subsidy should have been in the bin of our history.

Do u benefit from subsidy or it's only the rich that do
How much is your salary
How much is the minimum wage
Go and read the history of taxation
How the poor in England thought taxation would punish the rich
Yet they paid more
When u lots scream things like this to sound politically correct it only tells u have little understanding of government policies
No policy is designed to favour the poor
Get that

What we need most in the petrol sector is to legalize and standardize the mini refineries that have sprouted up in the South South. These refineries can bring down the cost of petrol to a more comfortable price level, bring down inflation and cost of running business and make subsidies unnecessary.

President Buhari can then use the monies saved to develop other sectors of the economy

Its easy you say. Will you drive your Lexus to such places to fill your tank? Do the locals understand the difference between leaded and unleaded fuel?
Regulation is key to quality control
Re: Full Rehabilitation Of Refineries Begins January-NNPC by ofwest47(m): 7:43am On Sep 22, 2019
Any attempt to make the refinery purely public oriented will fail again as all govt. workers in the govt. owned enterprises are looters up to the least paid workers, so for the refinery to work again it should be made public/private partnership enterprise with the private concerned being contributors to the rebuilding.

That is why I said they should be standardised; meaning they should be regulated to provide top quality assurance.

The government keeps sinking billions into 'rehabilitating' these refineries but they never function for more than 3 months. The only people who are being rehabilitated are those handling the contract.
Doing the same thing over qnd over again yet expecting a different result.

The equipment and methods they are using alone is substandard so how do you want them to standardise it. Plus the pollution they are generating is colossal. Have you been there at all or probably watched a documentary about them

You are right. A lot if them pollute the environment. That is where government should bring in the regulation you are talking about. A legalization for regulation and taxation scheme.

That way, the government makes sure they supply the market with good quality fuels using processes that severly minimize polution. For its troubles, the government gets to tax them and more revenue enters the governments coffers; prizes become more bearable for consumers, and the entrepreneurs have peace of mind to expand and employ more Nigerians. Criminality comes down as employment rises.

Before you know it, we have more home grown oil companies registered with CAC, opening bank accounts with our banks and seeking to even expand internationally.

But the current system of just blowing up their refineries is akin to throwing the baby away with the bathwater.

I have to agree with you on this. However these guys are already used to cutting corners to maximise profits as they don't care the adverse effect their refined fuels cause to your vehicle. Trying to change that would be resisted via Thier Avengers team as usual
