Why not start like... Mom i have been worrying late, don't you think we need to do something about your body?

Then tell her your findings and what doctors say...
A concerned mom would not ignore you

There's nothing like matured advice, she's your mum for God sake. How dare you even bring this here? My mum will always be my mum, around the world and back.

Sorry, I didn't even bother reading your post because it's lame.

Look for solution but don't bring your mum's issue to nairaland for the hillbilly jerks here to comment over.

Ever since i was small my mum have always have this unpleasant smell.she baths often but this smell have choose to not go away, i heard she got an infection after a miscarriage because we do discuss it amongst ourselves,we her children. The smell comes from her private and i dont know if she is aware of it. She baths often but after sometime the smell starts again.

She came to my house for visit and i was embarrassed when my husband passed and was asking what was stinking up the kids room, i know it was my mum but i told him something else.

She is someone that always like tying wrapper without any under and you can imagine how it is.

I dont want to embarrass but i know it has always been an issue with my dad(they have seperate room coz of this).she get angry easy too but i really have to.

Ps she has treated infection often and on but this smell is what i dont understand.doctors should help too.
Why is it that the smell refuse to go away because she bathes morning and night(rule while growing up in our house)

It cannot be VVF. If it was VVF there would be a significant low quality of life that would have warranted a doctors visit ages ago., VVF patients cannot control urine passage and would know before hand that they are seriously ill

VVF is not an illness. It's simple about discharging unprocessed urine and the smell is very stinky. The female urethra is much shorter than male. She can be sitting down, gisting normally and laughing and when she gets up, the chair is wet.

Such women secretly wear pad to absorb the urine ... Their children won't even know they use pad. It is only when the woman does not go and change the pad on time ... Say 30 minutes, it'll start to stink.

It's not really a matter of quality of life or access to doctors...

It's about childbirth... During childbirth...

Some VVF patients can undergo 3 surgeries, yet no respite

Lemme tell you one true life story.

One pregnant woman was expected to to check into a hospital as she was almost due, but for 6 days, she was not seen. When she eventually showed up, the baby was already stressed... As she was pushing, the baby somehow hanged on the pelvic area so the doctors has no choice than to cut her up from below to save the mother and child. Baby unfortunately died after

The combination of late delivery and the surgery resulted in the patient having VVF. Subsequent surgeries to correct it proved futile.

Respeckk softly ask her if she has difficulty keeping urine. If that is the case, make una dey manage her like that

The person that knows ur mum's body like u said is ur dad.
Call him and make plan with him.
Simple.
It is his duty to take his wife to hospital over such issue not you.
If he is in the village, send for him to come over and take the two to go and meet a Dr.
He has more say in this than u and knows how he has been living with such for long.

It's only if ur dad is not in the picture that u can tell her.

I wonder why u have to walk on eggshell around your mum like most posts here insinuate.
Why won't she be told?
Will she die or disown you?
O dikwa serious o
I won't hesitate to let her know if my dad isn't in the equation.
Isn't she my mum again?
A woman like me?

So I can't discuss about sex with my mum?
Okay o

no. Dont call a family meeting.

Take her to see a doctor but speak to the doctor first before the scheduled meeting.

An incomplete miscarriage can cause serious bacteria infection and i guess that is where the smell is coming from.

She needs to do a scan first and then the doctor will know what to do.

And will make it smell for years? Secondly does it affect private part odour as well?

Telling her she stinks won't change the fact that she does stink.
If you want help go look up a solution for her and like some one said go through your dad. undecided

arrange everything with the doctor and your dad.tell you mom that you would like to take her and your dad for check up because of their age.that you would like to be sure of their health status, that you wouldn't like anything to take you their children unaware.the doctor can take it up from there.

yes. When people have a miscarriage or an abortion that is incomplete, whatever remains there decays and can cause severe infection that can damage your womb. And it smells really badly.

She needs to go for a scan. And if that is the case, the doctor will have to do an evacuation.

The most likely cause of that smell is bacterial vaginosis,an overgrowth of bacteria in the vagina.
It has been chronic I guess because it was not treated from inception.

Take your mom to see a gynae. You may not tell your mom anything but you can hint the doctor why you came.
She will need to do some tests which could include a vaginal swab test and urine mcs.
yes a gynaecologist is better

I'm close to my mom, so this is how I'll tell her about it.

I'll go very close to her like I'm hugging her, place my hand round her shoulder as i always do and call her by the pet name I gave her -

Patty m o,you know I love you so much and want the best for you. You gave I and my siblings life and we are so grateful to God and you and that makes you our heroine, but along the line, you contracted something that makes you smell in your vagina area.

It has lingered for long and now, I want us to visit the doctor so as the get a permanent cure for it so you can be happier OK,my darling!
I'll think of the day it will be and make out time for us to go, just you and me alright..

Smile for me mommy m. Kiss kiss...

I alone, but its just too sensitive a topic dont want to sound insulting, evrything is a trigger.

She's going to listen if you're very determined. You have to sink it into her mind. Women are very self conscious and once she realises the smell is a big issue, she'll be frantic to get something done. She not even want to meet people because she'll be feeling ashamed.

If it means both of you getting angry with each other, good! She'll be thankful in the long run after headbutting you grin

Intentionally, show your mom a comedy video that precedes a video on vaginal body odour. You can pretend to seek her advice about a ficticious friend with the problem or you get her an expensive perf of like #15k smiley. You can also act drama with a friend and the topic is body odour and how a husband complains but the wife won't listen.

Take her to a hospital in the guise of check up but speak to the Doctor in advance.

The Dr will know how to treat her for that infection while telling her something else.

Madam,this is a simple issue.
1. Schedule a visit to a family physician with your mom. Just tell her that since she's in your house, let her go for general checkup.
Before the visit, try and meet the doctor and explain the situation to him. Hmm... You're matters will be treated confidentially. The MO will just pretend as if you meet for the first time during the visit. History taking will be done, head to toe assessment, with various test(investigations) be conducted to give actual diagnosis of your mother's condition. If it warrant to see a specific specialist, the family physician with determine that.
On a lighter note,a good house officer will be able the handle that matter, self but pref... a reg or consultant.

This is fantastic advise. When the issue about the body odour, speak extensively about it. Don't overdo it but let it sink in that something has to be done. Bring up the experience with your husband for instance. Speak directly to her about other people who have complained. Eventually, her self image will compel her to seek treatment

Put your words carefully in a letter and drop it where she will see and read it.Then take her to the hospital for a swab test.Other wise, get cloves(zobo pepper),soak in water for 3 days, let her use the water to wash her privates for a week. She can also chew garlic. But going to a gynaecologist will be your best bet.

If you're in Lagos, I can connect you to a hospital. I true the doctor there to handle the situation for you without much charges. Your mum has infection. She's definitely having discharge too. Is she carrying IUD?
