It's pretty obvious that Nigeria is whacked out. There seems to be sovereignty within sovereignty (the Muslim north actually follows Sharia law, which is more or less another constitution in and of itself). Our politics is ethnically-based. So regardless of what is written on paper as Nigeria's "constitution", regional groups can actually make statements like the subject in this topic (never field women as candidates) and get away with it. So, this isn't surprising.
