We need to talk further on this. I used to have a therapist number that specialises in speech therapy.

As a medical professional, it's wrong for me to come out and say madam your kid is autistic, but the signs you've provided points to autism and it won't take much tests for the medical hospice to give you a proper and fitting medical report on this and then suggest ways on managing the situation rather than to live you in between even undecided than before

I would have made recommendations but I can't seem to place my hands on my old books for now.

For the sake of the child, I like to recommend visiting one or two more hospice and very multiple professional counsel you can make informed decision on how to best cater for your child's condition madam.

Take action and do not live it to chance. In the mean time, for improved cognitive development, allow me recommend you give the chance a cod liver oil capsule daily for asmuch as years if it can be provided to trigger his mental acuity and improve the child's brain power.

You are the one worrying yourself, and it's a normal thing to do as a parent. Your child is okay, his speech will be clearer in due time. My son is also like that. He is performing well and can write very well, play with his mates very well and speaks very well too, just for him to be more clearer in his speech.

Just be teaching him how to pronounce things in a proper way, by 5 years he will outgrow it. My son's speech improves daily and he is doing fine.

I wonder where all these autism stuff is coming from.

Please, ur child is not autistic.

Their speech become mumbled when they talk too much at a stretch. Have you taken note of that?
Yes i think you're right. His words are clear if it is short and not too fast but once it is much you can't hear it all ooo. Thanks for your contributions.

Longest time, we once met on the preggy mamas thread. How are you doing?

Same with my boy and I normally encourage him to take it easy. With time they will outgrow it.

We are doing fine sis. Take Kia.

Are you sure he isn't autistic?
That’s a very big jump to ask just from one symptom and remember we have verbal and non verbal autistic children.

First of all he is less than 4years and she is able to understand him but not others. If at 4years this continuous you might want to see a (SALT)speech and language therapist.

There are different reasons kids do not speak or not clearly such as what is the home environment like?.Is he an only child?.Does he attend play school?.Are there staff in the house speaking different languages and confusing him?...That’s what we need to know to get a clearer picture.

Never rush to get an intervention.

.He might be autistic. Does he simplify sentences. e.g instead of mummy want to buy me buiscuit. He says mummy buy biscuit in an unclear manner.or mummy me watch cartoon. most tym pipul close to them understand them perfectly. One i know is 7years. He says what a 7yr old is supposed to say. But only we that stay with him understand his speech. my friend say he speaks swahili. Bt na english oo. Lol.
it also affect their writing. They are not gud at it. They cant comprehend words. Their letters face backwards. b luks lyk d. Be patient with him. Even if it affect his academics giv him xtra care. Did i 4gt to add that they love music and drawing. My personal research tho. I advice u stll gt professional advice.
These are not exactly signs of being Autistic but sounds more like global delay.Autistic children may love music and drawing and so do most mainstream children.

Alright then. The cold liver oil you asked me to give him is for how long?
Please do not give anything you are unsure of to your son without contacting a medical specialist. These days there are interventions and medications for everything which shouldn’t really be the case.

Thank you for your contributions but i have been seeing a lot of changes already and he is above 4 years now. Most of his words are becoming clearer as he grows.

Oh dear!.Kunleweb slow down as you have diagnosed the child without using the set questionnaires.
That child is in his formative years so multiple professional advice isn’t what he needs as she has mentioned one underling symptom speech not multiple.

Also,I hope you mean medical hospital not medical hospice as you said as a hospice tends to support people at the final stage of a terminal disease and/or condition that is not likely to survive.

I know we all want to help but be sure of the advice you dish out and your old books maybe be outdated.

I am Nigerian and a special needs Teaching staff based in London with loads of experience and am happy to explain anything you are unsure about the Autism spectrum.

@Lynx001: Oga na talk bring talk o.
The 7yr old you are describing here; that writes dogs for gods, d for b, ......p for d ......V for A has dyslexia. Dyslexia is a form of brain damage. The important thing to know is that they can use hyperbaric oxygen therapy to treat this condition. Waiting and watching patiently does not solve problems. It will rather be a waste of opportunity to treat. More info to you if interested.
You are right about the 7year old in that Dyslexia is a known learning disability that can cause problems in reading writing and spelling.

It affects part of the brain, but is not brain damage as such children have good skills in other areas such as ability to critically think using that same brain.

Hello everyone.

My son turned 4 this May and his words are not clear enough. He can recite the alphabets and spell 2 letter words, speak complete sentences, make conversations and can read and write but his speech is not completely clear. When he speaks fast. We can hardly hear what he's saying. Nursery teacher has asked that we fill a form for them to book him in to see the GP so he can be checked. I was wondering if its advisable to to fill the form?

We are afraid he may be stigmatised as having a condition and so trying to see if we can wait it out. We also dont want him to loose his confidence or retreat into himself in the process of being worked on by the specialist. We were hoping when he turns 4 he would outgrow it but we are still hhopeful. Whats your take on it please?
Thanks
