Few weeks before border closure, they released list of designated toll gates, one region has 56 and we ask why should that be?
Bale dealers in aba, owerri and ph have been idle since this year cause of closure of ph wharf. There’s also increment in tax rates.
All of a sudden, borders are closed.

Even in GEJ’s looting period, things didn’t get bad this way.

Even if the border in the north was open, there is nothing you can do about it.

The Maradi border between Niger and Kastina is under key and lock. I really don't know where this man is getting his information from? I really don't know why these people love playing politics with every decision of the government. The same Niger/ Kastina Maradi border that was shown on Channels TV with heavy security patrol?

Eh yah. TV cheesy

The number of people that have been making statements trying to blackmail the government into opening the borders goes to show there were alot of criminals benefitting from the smuggling business indeed.

Gani might be one of them.
So you can reason what his trying to say. How can the boards in the north be open while the one over here are shut down . uncle reason for once.

No be only Maradi border na Maradi goat! Is there border in the north? Obviously you have not explored the geography of the north. it's a massive sea of barren land across Niger and Chad. Those small outposts are what you are calling borders? Many northerners (core North) will take a Nigerien or a Chadian over a Nigerian from the South.

It's impossible to close the Northern Nigerian Border with with Niger Republic and Chad, a border where Boko Haram and bandits move their weapons freely?

Dangote was complaining of Benin Republic but didn't do so with Nigeria Republic

This is the same way Shehu Shagari, a Fulani president chased out Ghanaian out of Nigeria(Ghana must go) in 1983, they won't do the same to the people from Niger republic. Shehu Shagari feared domination from migrants that shared stuffs in common with Southern Nigerians.

Migrants from the Sahel are flocking to Nigeria today and we see all as Hausa/Fulani, the North rather wants all Nigerian States to donate land to them in the name of RUGA.
Buhari has been busy connection the connecting Nigeria and Niger republic by rails.

Buhari won't connect Nigeria with Benin to Ghana with Rail just as he is connecting Nigger Republic

Thanks a million.

I hope those southern abomination will see this and be wise for once

Sad how Lagos State and FG feign ignorance over the Badagry road when that should've been exploited for the benefit of of tourism in Nigeria. All countries on the west coast has a fledgling tourism industry but not Nigeria. All our beaches are basically unsafe due to miscreants etc, roads are bad too.

From Cotonou straight to Accra, the roads are pot-hole free no single one but come to Nigeria, it's an issue.

Develop our borders and see how smuggling issues would resolve itself. Right now the customs and immigrations are not well equipped due to the poor roads to curb smuggling.

What a monumentally stupid statement. If the South secedes you will really know the meaning of "dry" port when your useless port remains empty and you have to pay heavy import duties to use the Lagos Port.

Trailers of rice bags commute from Niger-Nigeria border get to Port Harcourt and disembark all its goods at Mile 1 market.

Many people are relying on Nairaland for actions, politicians are listening than before,if You are a Southerner living in the North please ,please share the situation of things,i can categorically tell you that seme in SW is under serious water tight locks.
since you asked for the real situation of things, the truth is that smuggling is still very active in the northern borders. A bag of foreign rice ,for example, went for 9000 naira at Maiduguri as of last week.

The few bags of rice among the bags of sand were smuggled in from Seme.. No single rice farm in Ogun state, nothing like Ofada rice.
