Kisses are not just reserved exclusively for the face. There’re places where a kiss on the body is welcomed or can be planted.

A kiss can mean so many things depending on what type of kiss it is and who it’s coming from (Take note: Who’s coming from). A kiss can be one of the most magical experiences of one’s life.

Every kiss offers a special connection to the other person if it’s coming from someone in love with you. Whether it’s a kiss of friendship, passion or a warm greeting, it sends out strong vibes.

There’re so many options of kiss to choose from. You will kiss your significant other much differently than that of a dear friend. The way you hug a friend is also different from the way you hug your partner.

Here are some of the different types of kisses and what they really mean.

1. Kiss on the hand.
This is when you grasp a persons’ hand with your fingers gently and kiss the back of the palm. It’s a polite move and one that shows your admiration and passion for someone. It could also be used as a show of respect for the other person especially if they’re way older.

2. Single lip kiss.
A subtle single lip kiss is where you suck and insert their lip between yours at the same time. This is a suggestive kiss that lets the other person know that you are very much into them and hope for a chance soon.

3. The forehead kiss.
A kiss on the forehead is a gentle expression of admiration. Usually it is a kiss of friendship or a starter kiss for something romantic later. There’s no particular time to do this as it can be used to ease pain, show appreciation and it can be used to say good night.
4. Butterfly kiss.

When two people get so close to each others face while they kiss that their eyelashes connect is called ‘Butterfly kiss.’ This kind of kiss and it’s gesture is for those madly in love with each other with some serious/deep connection.
5. The eskimo kiss.

There is a genuine reason why this kiss of affection is called ‘The eskimo kiss’ and here’s the reason. The Eskimo Kiss is believed to be the romantic option for those who live in cold climates, otherwise there’s risk of lips getting stuck together. When two noses rub up against each other and move back and forth. It’s affectionate and often given from a parent to their child.

6. The Spiderman or opposite position/ horizontal kiss.
This sensual kiss has been in existence before the movie ‘Spiderman’. The epic kiss was featured in one of the scenes with Spiderman upside down and Mary Jane is standing right side up. This is less risky when doing horizontally on the couch or bed and is a kiss of passion between lovers.

7. The cheek kiss/peck.
A short peck on the cheek, often in combination with a hand on the arm or a half embrace. Its meanings are dependent on where you are in the world. For some cultures, it’s a hello or goodbye, while some attach deeper meaning to it.

8. “Leave a mark” kiss.
With reference to #7, leave a mark kiss is also known as the lipstick kiss. Here a girl puts lipstick on and kisses her partner on the cheek, neck or lips. This leaves a mark and is usually just a playful gesture or for something more romantic later.
9. Air kisses.

Mostly used for salutation and can be seen in old French movies. It’s done by giving out a “MUAH” in the air. It could be beside someone’s cheek or from a distance. Sometimes it’s done on both cheeks depending on what country you’re in. It’s popular among celebs and can also be seen within family and friends. It’s a romantic/non romantic/friendly gesture depending on the circumstances/environment and those using it.

10. Earlobe kiss.
This all encompassing kiss is targeting an erogenous zone and for most, it’s kind of a big deal because the earlobe is somewhat sensitive. You accomplish this by gently kissing or nibbling the ear on the earlobes. This kiss is known to be one of the most romantic kisses between lovers because it’s not likely used if nothing is expected in return or when the atmosphere isn’t right – you understand right?
