Hope4thebest: Have you ever gotten a phone and felt like you made a terrible choice? Or felt like you should have gotten some other phone instead of the one you got? I have worn those shoes too. In fact, some of the most challenging purchase decisions today are those related to technology. In some cases, its because of the rate at which one technology is being replaced by another and in other cases it is because of the little knowledge some people have as relating to the gadgets that they use. Before 2013, buying a phone was a relatively easy decision to make but with the introduction of affordable android phones into the Nigerian market, we have seen the competition for the top place in the market and customer loyalty tighten with each new release. As much as this means that we have better phones for really cheap prices, it also means that we now have more options to choose from and more options demand for better precision from customers. So lets help you make the best phone purchase decision you have made in a while. Here are some of the things you should consider when going to get a phone.
1. Purpose Of Usage Not in popular opinion, I do not think lots of persons put the purpose of the phone into consideration before they get it but I still think that this would save you a lot of stress as you begin to consider the smartphone to buy. Smartphones are built with different capacities and these features go a long way to determine their functions. For example, phones powered by teh Snapdragon 835, are said to be the fastest phones of today. This means that they can process faster and multitask more than earlier editions of smartphones. So, before ordering a new phone you have to determine if you would be running a lot of heavy applications (like some photo editing apps and games) or not.
2. Brand With the tsunami of smartphones that hit the market every year, picking one becomes really difficult but having a particular brand in mind makes it simpler to streamline your options. There are plenty brands to choose from so you might want to stick with a brand that tickles your fancy the most and gives you the best UX (User experience).
3. O.S(OPERATING SYSTEM) A mobile operating system is built to manage the core functions of a mobile phone, it is responsible for defining and identifying features and functions of a mobile phone. There are several operating systems available for mobile phones but the most popular ones in the Nigerian smartphone market are the Android and the iOS and most likely you might have to choose between one of both options but some other mobile OS available for phones include the Blackberry OS, Windows mobile, LIMo, Maemo, Bada, Qtopia, etc.
4. Android (software) version You certainly do not want to be the one with a phone that does not support latest application updates, but if you do not mind being behind the trend, you can scratch this off you considerations. But if not, the software version is a very important part of your purchasing as it will help to not just narrow down your options, but also help ensure that your purchase is within the purlieus of something recent.
5. Processor speed The wave of smartphones that hit the Nigerian market also made certain terminologies popular. One of such terms is the very popular (hanging). This is used to describe a situation when a mobile phone gets stuck and this happens when the processor of a phone cannot efficiently process all the information that it is given to, at the same time.
6. RAM AND ROM They are not the same neither are they bunch of letters, the RAM (Random Access Memory) refers to the part of the phone that works with the processor, the bigger the RAM, the more things the phone can process. While the ROM (Read Only Memory) refers to the part of the phone that stores your information (inbuilt storage). So you might want to get a phone with a lot of ROM storage if you are the type that store lots of files but even with that do not forget to always backup and if you are the mobile gaming enthusiast, a 2gb RAM might just be your best starting point.
6. Camera Today, this one is as important as the entire phone itself. Everyone wants to take clearer pictures, preserve colourful memories and the smartphones of today have given us a way of preserving wonderful pictures without having to own a camera. Cameras are rated in pixels and the higher the pixel, the clearer the image would be. 13 megapixels is a good place to start your search for a new phone with good camera and we will not forget to leave you some likes on the gram.
7. Battery Capacity I honestly think this is the heart of the Nigerian smartphone market. This is extremely important especially for days when you might have to be on long road trips and days when NEPA chooses to pay you a silent visit. This is a key consideration today, even if your power bank can power heaven. Battery capacities are measured in mAh and there are two types of battery designs in smartphones: the removable and the inbuilt batter. Inbuilt batteries tend to have higher ratings and allow for sleeker phone designs. A good place to start searching is 3,500mAh.
Other things to consider would include the screen resolution, length and width of phone, hardware design, these would all boll down to personal preference. However, no matter what phone you end up buying do remember that the only imperfection to a perfect instrument is the user.

You mention almost all but you didn't mention the network capability.
I consider 4g network support
Processor speed of 2.0ghz
Snapdragon chipset (not mediatek)
RAM of 3gb/4gb
ROM: 32gb minimum
Must have support for expandable memory
Camera: Must be clear irrespective of megapixels
OS: Android 7.0 to 9.0
Battery: 4000mAh to 5000mAh
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 or Redmi Note 8 has all these features. 2 Likes |

Originakalokalo: The greatest deceit of the devil is to make you believe that God cannot forgive your sins because they're too many....
God said in his word that regardless of the quantity and nature of your sin, he is ready to forgive you.
REGARDLESS. No matter how terrible.
Jesus has suffered for You.,...You don't have to carry the weight of your sin.
Jesus loves you. Accept him as your Lord and savior today and all your sins will be wiped out.
You will then start a new life of holiness.,. He will empower you to do that.
Come to Jesus. Bros what happens to you reap what you sow...murder is a crime in many countries...but killing Jesus is not a crime...stop deceiving yourself |

Exactly what I look out for in a phone. I hate buying devices I've not researched about. After making so many bad choices, I had to advice my guy that wanted to settle for the tecno camon 12 pro to do a thorough research on it, he did and now he's enjoying his device now. |
