BREAKING: Appeal Court declares Akpabio winner of senatorial election.
Godswill Akpabio has been declared winner of the senatorial election for Akwa Ibom North West District.

The former governor was first elected senator from the district in 2015 when he concluded his two terms as governor.

He was appointed into President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet in July, serving currently as the Niger-Delta minister.

Chris Ekpenyong of the Peoples Democratic Party was initially declared winner of the election by INEC, but Mr Akpabio challenged the decision at the election’s tribunal.

He lost at the tribunal and challenged the decision at the Court of Appeal, which declared him the winner today, effectively ending the long and tenuous battle for the senatorial seat.

Congrats to him. I've lost interest in the appeal court's verdict since adeleke of Osun's victory which was later upturned by the supreme court. I hope the judgement is upheld by the apex court. In a game of politics, you win some and lose some.

Lucky for him. But he can’t be both minister and senator.
It’s either he resigns as minister (which would be stupid), or INEC holds fresh elections

Akpabio wants to further tarnish the little goodwill left in him. Since he believes the Senate is far more lucrative than a ministerial appointment having tasted both, he should go for the rerun and lost out completely on both sides. He cannot be a minister in the FEC and be contesting elections at the same time. Buhari will just replace him, and Udom will disgrace him again.

My Advice:
The man should just stay put where he is. A bird in hand is worth more than ten birds in the bush.

They have updated the link
The Appeal Court in Calabar has given Godswill Akpabio another chance at the senatorial slot of the Akwa Ibom North West District.

The court nullified the election that returned Chris Ekpenyong of the PDP as winner and ordered a rerun in Essien Udim local government area within 90 days.

Godswill Akpabio is the son of Chief Obot Akpabio and Madam Lucy Obot Akpabio (née Inyangetor) of Ukana, Ikot Ntuen in Essien Udim Local Government Area. [4] He was born on 9 December 1962. He lost his father early in life and was raised by his mother. [5]

He will win the rerun.

Then you will know why Udom is the incumbent governor of AKS.

Then why is he struggling with it? It should have been an unquestionable landslide for him initially.
