It's cultural practice.

If it's percieved as a sin, it's most likely a sin also before God. That's why "When you are in Rome, you behave as the Romans"

The contrary may be right else where.

Cap wearing or not is a symbol. Like water baptism and Holy communion are symbols. Men are not to wear caps when praying or prophesying. It is the opposite for women. The problem with symbols is that you can't "kill yourself" over them.

Read the scriptures very well. The head covering spoken of is LONG HAIR, not clothe material. If a man has long hair, Paul said it is a shame. He added that the long hair will cover his head which means he dishonors his head. Long hair is only given to women to cover their head. A man needs no long hair to cover his head. Long hair is a thing for women. The word COVERING has been misunderstood to mean cap, scarf, head-tie etc. No, it is talking of hair which God gave to women for covering.

Go and read the passage again.
OK let's forget about the women now and focus on the men, if you say a man is not meant to have long hair but short hair to show that his head is not covered, then what happens when the same man with short hair uses something like cap or any form of head tie to cover his hair when praying or worshiping, is it not the same things as having a long hair or a cover over his head?

You use your hair as a female.

1 Corinthians 11:5 (KJV)
But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

God gave women long hair as a covering. Paul never said the covering his clothes material.

1 Corinthians 11:15 (KJV)
But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
Let's leave the women side for now, the thread was about the men

This Paul is problem child, he has done more harm to Christianity than good, this is someone who has never set his eyes on Jesus, turned out to set a standard for modern Christianity.
Paul never saw Jesus physically, but virtually everything he knew about the life of Jesus was revealed to him in the course of his walking with God and when he was blinded by the ray of light on his way to damascus

In 1 Corinthians 11, Paul spoke against men covering their head. But people today thought the covering had to do with cap or hat. No, because Paul went ahead to reveal that he was talking about men having long hair. He added that women were given long hair as a covering. According to Paul, it is a shame for man to have his head covered with long hair.

But people today think the covering has to do with cloth materials

But you are aware it is abominable for the Jews to have their hair and beards shaved. There is no way Paul was referring to hair covering and not cap covering.. It was normal for the Jews of old to have long hair and beards.

No verse compels man to remove his cap in Church. It's just a misunderstanding of the passage in Corinthians which people have also misunderstood to mean ladies must wear head-tie in church or when praying. All is false.

How is it a misunderstanding?
It was stated clearly, women should cover their hair.
