You can't compare here. The product they market is different, the environment is different, you can't compare Bill Gates & Steve Jobs way of running their empire to Dangote's

No, it doesn't "usually" end badly. If one has qualified children who know the business thoroughly, nothing says they should not be allowed at the helms of affairs. Most Asian biggest companies' entrepreneurs are handing over their operations to their children. What of Cargill? The families of the founders still control the company till date. Provided the children are interested in the affairs of the business and are qualified, nothing wrong with them manning the affairs.
