They have always been losers in Nigeria's politics. They are losing again on this subject. There are more APC Senators in the House, definitely, it will be easy to through the SEDC bill into the dusbin unless and until the Flattinos beg

Coming from someone whose region even when among the big three only came close to the seat of power in February 1976, 16 years after the union jack was lowered by the British following power lacuna caused by murtala's death. It will still take another 26 years in 1999 when the rest of the country decided to humour the emotions of June 12 before they came close again.

Meanwhile the so called losers, has produced both a civilian and military head of state, fought a civil war for three years and still come back to produce a vice president 9 years after the war. Their political machinery and clout would have given them the presidency in 1999 until the Jos convention happened and presidency was granted to the loud mouthed westerners on compassionate ground.

Even with their son as two time democratic president they stayed on the fringes until Goodluck chicken out after obvious robbery in 2015.
Yet they are all over cyberspace boasting about their political sagacity. You guys are the real chest beaters.

Lagos was an economic viable state since the time of the colonial masters.

Lagos did not have state status during colonial time. I read when Lagos city town hall election was a thing of street brawl. Be mindful that "Arokee peeps" were never allowed to win any election in Lagos municipal government.

Lagos was a city before it became the capital (It included Lagos island and parts of Eti osa)

in any way, the majority of the Western region was called lagos province and was ruled from lagos until the amalgamation of Lagos province to Southern Nigerians in 1914.

Lagos was a city and remained a city before it was made a state by a military head of state. When the government of western region tried to annex Lagos, which last for less than a year, the sons of Lagos city such as TOS Benson fought the attempt of western region and it flopped like a pack of cards. The so-called western regional leaders had the boastful gene in their blood and wanted to boast with Lagos as an achievement. The same people who could not boast with Ibadan the seat of power for western region wanted Lagos.

Bro there is lagos city (Eko)

Victoria island, ikoyi(parts of Eti osa) and Lagos island.

There was also places like Badagry, Epe, Ibeju, ikeja and ikorodu.

All those places mentioned above were developed by and parts of western region until the military declare a lagos state and forced those places to be part of it.

Mobalaji Benson was the first governor of lagos and he had to appeal to the people of Western region who opposed it initially to see the bigger picture.

Before then, Ibadan was the Mecca of Yoruba race and the most developed place in Yoruba land

Ibadan had the first university
Ibadan had the first television station
Ibadan had the first Olympic size stadium in Nigeria as so on.

Only when there is intellectual exercise based on logicality. Lagos was a mere township and built into a state by special federal government benevolence. It is a show of tribal selfishness to ask for Lagos State to be given special status when other cities in the federal have not even enjoy what have been granted to Lagos as a city from the federal republic of Nigeria. This is one of the reasons I have and will continue to advocate for disintegration of the zoo called Nigeria. It is a matter of good will for ethnic nationalities to go their different ways because Nigerians do not mean good for other Nigerians who are not in the same ethnic block. Lack of unity.

Lagos is not a township and if it was just a township, it won't be what it is today and the people that made it what it is today won't have touched or picked the so-called township. Lagos is a unique state and an entity from day one.

Lagos today is the only state in Nigeria taking in and welcoming Nigerians from every corner of Nigeria fleeing poverty, hopelessness, lack of opportunities and leadership failures in your own state and the rest of Nigeria.

The population in Lagos I'm sure is almost 4 times the size of yours and many states in Nigeria, Lagos is basically shouldering your state's and Nigeria's failure without any extra benefit of considerations and the tens of thousands trooping into Lagos state every day don't do so with a percentage of their states allocations or IGR to help Lagos with, they show up empty-handed, they stress and put pressure on Lagos state's infrastructures and social services.

What's good for Lagos is good for you, for your people and for Nigeria, but tribalism, bigotry, and ignorance won't let you see and understand.

Funny how you keep saying you want to go your separate ways when in fact you don't even want to stay I your own state, you look for the opportunity to get on the next bus to the North or the SW and even when they threaten you to leave the North or die, you begged to stay so who are you deceiving with that separation tales?

It's not even like the states you run and govern on your own are like Dubai or any better than the other states in Nigeria.

Get off yourself and your delusions.
