is a good idea, but a lot of people don't trust this fake news bill. They want it to be clearly defined.
They feel they might mischievously twist the whole thing by tagging something like complaining, criticism as hate speech. This is the bone of contention.

the reality is many people did not read the bill, they just spread fakenews and copy what others are writing

if people read the bill, they will understand that the bill can ensure justice for Nigerians who were wrongfully accused and kille, the bill can be amended and adjustments can be made to it. the proposed bill seeks to protect the lives of Nigerians against undue manipulations by mischievous elements in society.

the bill also call for death penalty for anyone found culpable of using hate speech that leads to the death of another person, this bill could also help against jungle justice.

They deny you your food, income, business, movement, Sleep and now, they are taking your voice. And you still think that it is only one region that will be affected by this bill ... then, you are of all men Miserable. Senators, bring it on, after all, you were not appointed, you were all voted. Even if the Election were Manipulated, the people were the agent of the Manipulation. Atleast, this is an Avenue for some people who have been Yearning for popularity to become popular, Howbeit, through Persecution like the Prophets of old. The Martyers.

Are you in support of this?? Not in a country like Nigeria... most news are true!! If not all most!!!

I am in support of the fathers of the land protecting its children from the satanic Western media that uses very advanced fake news. Did you know American police shootings of Blacks are Fake? Yes just a ploy to keep poor Blacks in terror and make us not see how the evil Whites and Blacks work together to oppress.

Wake up out your slumber

The truth is social media is probably the only/major avenue, tool and platform for freedom of speech for citizens and they want to take that away. They want to turn Nigeria to China. There is no free speech in China. They will lock u up immediately. That’s what they want.

They forget Nigeria is a democracy.

we need the anti hate bill in Nigeria

during the last xenophobia, we can see the damage it did in Nigeria

fakenews is now the new digital tools for destabilization

fakenews and hate speech can cause death and civil wars

if we dont want Rwanda in Nigeria, we should regulate social media.

This new law will actually hasten Rwanda in Nigeria. I see what they are doing, but it will be too late if they don't retrace their steps. You can't render people hopeless and still take away their rights to complain. It will backfire.

Hate speech like "dog and baboons" right?
I hope APC members will not turn around and cry foul once this bill is in operation?

Revolution will never happen — the citizens are too divided across ethno-religious lines for that to happen.

Either of these two will happen: a complete domination of the south or a bloody breakup!

As for the proposed bill, it shows that the country has gassed out — frustration everywhere.

Out of fear of a backlash from the masses, politicians are moving swiftly to suppress them and gag the media.

But a dead engine is a dead engine!

They can't because there's conflict of interest. filling stations and oil companies would have their profits hit bad. these leaders are only there to protect the big corporations and maintain status quo

I'll say the owners of the social media platforms are the very case of this social media bill. If they had knowing stop the spread of fake news, all this won't be having.

The quest for traffic and members made this owners turn the blind eye and thus encourage the nonsense if fake news.

I believe shouting on social media won't stop the enactment of this bill, rather, stomping out fake news and by large, those who spread it will stop this growing menace.

Let's pray it's not too late.
