It is a wonderful day to all my wonderful people out dear and Happy Sallah to all the Muslim faithfuls. May the joy and peace of this season never depart from your households.

For some months I have been getting numerous calls from couples, singles and parents on a lot of family life issues and I have deliberately gone into hiding in other to come up with workable solutions on some of the issues raised. To this end I shall be starting a 40day marital recovery exercise for every couple from January 1 - February 9, 2011. It is an exercise that will win back the lovely spouse you marry if you are willing to join the exercise which will involve one task every single day. You may send your name, location, phone and how long you have been married to praisefowowe@gmail.com to be a part of the exercise. I am sure it will redefine your marriage and restore bliss to our homes. I have gotten several mails, calls and read various headlines over the weeks on the rise and rise of incest in our homes and have decided to lend my voice against the evil being perpetrated in many homes across the nation.

A new born baby must not go mad while an elder is in the market square says an ancient Nigerian adage. But what happens when the elder is the reason for the baby's madness?

I read with rude shock how a man in Lagos impregnated his daughter last week and claimed it was because the girl never complained and screamed while he was committing the act. I was close to tears as I read the girl's account but more burdened about what may become of the future of the girl who was defiled by the man she ought to trust the most. How do we expect her to grow up to trust her husband if she recovers and gets married because her view of manhood is already distorted by the man that should give her hand in marriage someday?

I remembered how a woman ran to my office 4years ago after discovering that her husband was having carnal knowledge of their 3year old baby. I was still trying to handle that case when there was another case of a mother who just lost her husband and in her bitterness started using her 7year old son to satisfy her sexual desires. I am bothered at the moment because we seem to be witnessing the dearth of innocence in our society and we all feel unconcerned. Shouldn't we all rise as parents and insist on the prosecution of some of these cases we read in our dailies every day? Are we moved by the plight and what becomes of the future of these children being violated?

What has become of the child's rights acts in Nigeria and how well has it been implemented? How come everyone is talking about rotational presidency when no one cares to respond to the silent tears of the future of our nation who are being violated day in day out by the very people that should protect them? Could the sudden rise in incest be as a result of the non prosecution of the perpetrators or the low publicity of the conviction of the perpetrators (in case there was any?)

I am aware that for the first time in history the number of porn sites specifically dedicated to incest has risen to an all time high and I know a lot of our Nigerian men and boys are hooked on those sites at the moment.

My candid advice for parents is as follows:

Start teaching your children about sexuality education from 18months(there is what to teach from that age -18years)

• Separate boys and girls from age 3

• Do a routine check up on your children at odd hours of the day

• Warn your children to learn to keep their personal space by not jumping on adults or sitting on their laps ( especially your girl child)

• Mothers should pay close attention to their children and report once you notice anything.

• The offender should be made to face the full wrath of the law (I am aware that we try to keep it a family affair but we have to learn to protect the future of a child)

• Go through any material you get for your children including cartoons before allowing them see it because some of those cartoons and games aren't family friendly.

• Nobody can love your child more than you so do everything to be there for them, ask questions and answer their questions as well.

We have gotten to a level where sisters are introducing themselves into lesbianism while brothers are also introducing themselves into gay. Fathers are having carnal knowledge of their daughters while uncles are defiling our young minds. I know that these are signs of the end time but we must do our bit as responsible parents to teach our children what is right. The time to start is now and we can't take chances because the enemy's strategy is to breed a godless generation who are angry and bitter because they have been destroyed from childhood through incest and child sexual abuse.

Will you do something about this situation?
