I don't understand what is wrong with our leaders again. First, it was Dora with a ban on calling Nigeria as 'Naija'. Now this senator has come up with is own on National Anthem. How do these their sudden deep patriotism solve the problems directly affecting Nigerians; talk of lack of power, bad roads, unemployments, etc. Pls they should resign if they have no solutions to these immediate problems confronting the populace, and allow us to think of better things to do rather than responding to their misplaced focus. angry angry angry

Arise, O compatriots, Nigeria's call obey
To serve our fatherland
With love and strength and faith
The labor of our heroes past
Shall never be in vain
To serve with heart and might
One nation bound in freedom, peace and
unity.

What is wrong with ths bunch of gluttonous morons? Most of them can't even reciite the full anthem. That is why they have not been practising what it says. How many of them can boast of been patriotic, loyal or honest? What is united or peaceful about them? How many of them can fit in the shoes of the founding fathers not to talk of keeping the faith? Bleeding hypocrites

Re: Senate Moves To Penalise Disrespect Of The National Anthem by Wislet(f): 6:46am On Nov 27, 2010
I SUPPORT!! Even if dey re not performing, @least this bill will go a long way in bringing some respect to de anthem which most of us show no regard for. It is our identity.
Re: Senate Moves To Penalise Disrespect Of The National Anthem by Harus(m): 7:44am On Nov 27, 2010
@ WISLET: Atleast u shuld know somtin called SCALE OF PREFERENCE (Needs in order of importance).
How is NATIONAL ANTHEM more important than ever pressing problems like POWER, ROADS, JOBS, HEALTH, CLEAN WATER, EDUCATION e.t.c. ?
If all these problems are solved, certainly, nigerians wuld automatically, willingly and gladly give even morethan d required respect & regard this stupid senator expected.

The foolish senator shuld have asked nigerians to practice d content of the national anthem. What I admire in national anthem is its rich content but unfortunately, it is merely a poem to our leaders.
Re: Senate Moves To Penalise Disrespect Of The National Anthem by 1025: 8:51am On Nov 27, 2010
this is a beautiful nonsense.
last time dora was angry over people calling nigeria naija today the national anthem.
if i may ask, is this national anthem a song in the market? if yes, you is behind it? 2face? d'banj or keefe?
obviously, these thieves have lost their stands. they have left the objects for shaddow? these are ppl selected by obasanjo to find ways of making us happy but they, like their master are now interested in more useless issues. what will even make me sing the national anthem in the first place?
how can these hunger infested nigerians even think of singing this national anthem?
those who share our funds in bags must concentrate in singing their national anthem and leave us alone.
to madam dora, naija jaga-jaga.
no wonder jonathan brought us jega so idris was right when he said nigeria jega jega.

If we have enough food to eat, steady power supply, good roads, EDUCATION, etc, there would be no need for a bill like this, because we would be happy enough to sing the anthem in front of a moving train.
Re: Senate Moves To Penalise Disrespect Of The National Anthem by igochopurs(f): 9:55am On Nov 27, 2010
I think the foreigners who stay away from the country and talk rubbish online are the morons and jobless people. Doesnt it mean so?

If you are not jobless, why will this generate so much debate like this? I want to know.

May the generations of those that are oppressing the common men in this Country be delivered into slavery. May the empire they build around them with the TAX payers money, and their off-spring end in captivity. May the false glory and honor they acquired be withdrawn in the broad day light. May the house of the wicked be given over also unto the sword; and may heaven be wroth with their inheritance. May fire consume their castles; and their name perish after them.

And for those who have the love of this nation at heart, may Eternal God bless and preserve your posterity. Peace be upon those that wish this nation good.

Untill every "Naija" man and woman begin to say this kind of prayer every morning and evening, even to the hearing of the LOOTERS instead of complaining, we should not expect much CHANGE.
Re: Senate Moves To Penalise Disrespect Of The National Anthem by medjai(m): 1:34pm On Nov 27, 2010

It baffles me, do we need to be forced before we know we should be patrotic? Are those making the 'law' patrotic thamselves? How many of them can sing the National Anthem or recite the Pledge?
Its all b*ll s**t.
Re: Senate Moves To Penalise Disrespect Of The National Anthem by hackney(m): 4:30pm On Nov 27, 2010
To think that these lawmakers (almost 1000 of them) are just sat there
with allowances bigger than obama's salary loafing about makes a caricature of
the country.
To think that they will be paid for the sessions they wasted discussing this anthem issue makes me want to
throw up on them.
It is almost like people need to look in on nigeria from the outside to see the utter folly of these
grown men.
A country where nothing really gets better for the masses.
what a shame.

A bill mandating doctors to treat accident victims without police reports is the only good thing about the bill.
Re: Senate Moves To Penalise Disrespect Of The National Anthem by igochopurs(f): 7:29pm On Nov 27, 2010
i will be surprised if this thread doesnt reach 500 pages of bull crap. What is the grouse with the lawmakers? That they made the law, that the law is not needed or that what? I dont get it!

Why are foreigners shouting here? You are a foreigner if you do not live in Nigeria and you have very passionate anger against the country Nigeria. Wipe your tears boys and girls. If na America come with this kind rule, una for shout? But because na Nigeria.

Idiagbon called all Nigerians indisciplined, useless, lazy, - and created WAI- where many of una dey that time? Dem come say manke una become patriotic una come dey shit for pant. Na wa o.
