His position has changed now. When the so-called progressives of which he was a part and parcel, (Bola Tinubu, Afenefere etal) were in opposition, restructuring or nothing was their mantra. They are in the power now, the song has changed. You will definitely be out of power again, one day.

Can we say prof. Did not know what we mean by restructure or he is focus on his political ambition. All what we are saying is each region to be control it resources. Each region should have their police, collect revenue and send only 20% to the center and decentralized the center.

This confused man has come again. Of course Nigeria's problem rests squarely on restructuring. If Nigeria is not restructured, it will eventually disintegrate into different countries. The other sections of the shithole cannot watch indefinitely while a few (mostly Northern elites) continue to cheat the rest of the country.

We keep hearing how much Nigeria earned over certain periods but they'd never tell you that these are gross earnings from oil sales where they'd still need to deduct the amounts due to the IOCs since management/exploration of most of these oil wells are JVs between the IOCs and FG. As usual, they keep reeling out figures to score cheap political points.

This VP sounds like Fashola. They think they know it all because they worked 8 years in govt. Corruption they keep shouting and always looking back at what other govt got in oil revenue is what is deceiving them. Look forward and be honest. Oil revenue under your govt what have you done with it? Has the corrupt under your govt been punished instead it is past cases. The loans your govt is collecting and loot recovered where are they? VP sir, lets try restructuring the present system even under saint you is not working.

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, has said that simple geographical restructuring is not the problem with Nigeria.

He said that prudent management of national resources and providing for the people properly were better ideas for Nigeria’s development challenges.
Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, communicated Mr Osinbajo’s view in a statement in Abuja on Monday.

The vice president was fielding questions from a cross-section of Nigerians at a town hall meeting in Minnesota, U.S., on Sunday.

Mr Osinbajo spoke on a wide range of issues covering the economy, anti-corruption, health, agriculture among others.

According to the vice president, the problem with Nigeria is not a matter of restructuring.

He said that Nigerians must not allow themselves to be drawn into the argument that Nigeria’s problems stemmed from some geographical restructuring.
“It is about managing resources properly and providing for the people properly, that is what it is all about.

“I served for eight years as Attorney General in Lagos State and one of the chief issues that we fought for in Lagos State was what you call fiscal federalism.
“We felt that there was a need for the states to be stronger, for states to more or less determine their fortunes.

“For example, we went to court to contest the idea that every state should control, to a certain extent, its own resources; we were in court at that time up to the Supreme Court and the court ruled that oil-producing states should continue to get 13 per cent derivation.

“While we were at the Supreme Court only the oil-producing states and Lagos were interested in resource control, everybody else was not interested in resource control for obvious reasons.

“Now, that is the way the argument has always gone, those who have the resources want to take all of it, while those who do not have want to share from others.”
He said that Nigeria must create the environment that allowed for people to realise themselves economically because that truly was what the challenge was with Nigeria.

Mr Osinbajo said that unless Nigerians were able to deal with the fundamental questions around corruption, their economic circumstance would keep going one step forward, two steps backwards.

“All that we have been able to deal with is grand corruption. When we started the TSA, the whole point was to aggregate all of the funds of government that were in private banks.

“So, we put all of the money in the central bank so that we could at least see the movement of money and by doing so, we were able to save 50 per cent of the corruption that was going on then.”

Relying on OPEC statistics on oil revenues accruable to Nigeria under successive administrations between 1990 and 2014, the vice president said not much was done in infrastructure development in spite of the huge oil revenues earned.
He said that under the Babangida/ Abacha administrations (1990 – 1998) Nigeria realised 199.8 billion dollars.

Under the Obasanjo / Yar’Adua governments (1999 – 2009), the country got 401.1 billion dollars; and during the Jonathan administration (2010 – 2014), Nigeria got 381.9 billion dollars from oil, Osinbajo said.

“The question that we must all ask is that what exactly happened to resources? The question that I asked is that where is the infrastructure?

“One of the critical things that we must bear in mind and see is that this government despite earning 94 billion dollars, up until 2017, we are spending more on infrastructure and capital than any previous government, so we are spending N1.5 trillion on capital, that is the highest we have spent since 1990.”

In the area of agriculture, Mr Osinbajo said that the target was to attain self-sufficiency in the production of rice, tomato, among others.

According to him, the government is doing a lot of work in agriculture as it has increased local production such that Nigeria is no longer spending five million dollars daily on rice import.

“Today, we are doing 11 million metric tonnes of paddy rice and are now importing only 2 per cent of what we used to import,” he said

Proffessor Osinbanjo is saying what will please the northerners and their political leaders up north.

They always want this ONE NIGERIA thing.

If restructuring will not help Nigeria then the political leaders should take us back to the regional level of the 1960-1963 era.

Each region had its own autonomy and things were working much more better.

Are the yorubas not suffering the effect of border closure yet one of their son is here praising the statusquo.

If the problem is prudent management of resources, the question is has this administration tackled this?

Apt!

It’s not unusual to find people who criticized others perform worse when they get into power.

Pre-2015 election he was pro-restructuring, post vice presidency, he became anti-restructuring.

A typical example of a Nigerian politician.

Sad if someone like Osinbajo can be this inconsistent with an issue so fundamental to Nigeria’s development.

Then after 5 years in power why havent you solved the problem. Why is Nigeria moving backward, not forward?

Did u even read it? Its not about restructuring, its about managing the resources.
Since 1990 till this day, Nigeria revenue on oil was four times better than this, where did that money go, people are quick to shout restructure but will things get better after that? If u are from the non oil producing states, will u prefer restructuring?
The problem is the leaders.
Goodluck mismanaged $30b that he could not account for.
$380b yearly is enough to put Nigeria on the right track but it was looted.
Despite having $94b, this administration has done more than its predecessors
It's not about reading, I read what was written there, only a kid will take this osinbajo and buhari serious.
Which more has they done?
Name this administration project they have completed, remember they have been in office for 5yr. Just name one complete project. They have spent more yet no improvement in power. I remember when this buhari govt promised to increase Nigeria power generating capacity by 2000megawatt every year, it's been 5 yrs now, they've not added a single watt. 5yrs is long enough for us to start seeing some completed project but all will get is we will, we will and blaming previous administration. This administration has failed, so they keep reminding us how past administration failed to just to keep people like u on their side.

People are missing the point. Restructuring makes a lot sense in our dispensation no doubt mainly because of our different cultures and aspirations. Unfortunately the problem is that it may not solve our issues ultimately if we don't change our ways.

How many of us have been able to get our representatives at all levels of government to comply with the terms of appointment? Let's look at a typical scenario that runs across our nation...

An LG worker who lives in a single room suddenly builds a mansion in the neighbourhood with other investments scattered all over town. People know his income and newly acquired properties but turn a blind eye to his excesses because of petty favors. He becomes the toast of local musicians and every supporter's ATM for the most flimsy reasons thereby buying their conscience. No one questions how he gets the money. They're happy receiving the token gifts and celebrate their "helper". The pot holes get bigger, mairuwa remains the water supplier, access to good health care is elusive and the schools are dysfunctional.

When things get really bad, he diverts attention to "those above". People swallow the bait, vent their frustration for a while and continue suffering and smiling. When EFCC tries to pick up the guy, it becomes a matter of "na awa brother, na awa money, wetin concern dem"! undecided

In summary, we need to purge ourselves of our primordial interests, greed, unfocused and unprincipled attitude, lack of responsibility, accountability and transparency. The politicians know and play on this.

If we learn to hold politicians responsible for their actions or at least come together as one to condemn their actions, there'll be more development, progress and peace in the economy. The need for restructuring will reduce since the real problems arise due to lack of fulfilment in the provision of basic needs.

They should solve the electricity problem first. build big power stations able to produce at least 1000mw of electricity not all these nonsense 1mw power stations littered around. One of Nigeria's main issue is foreign investors and so long as we keep having erratic power supply, most of these investors will keep running away. most of them are in Ghana. why? because of stable electricity and ease of doing business. (Ghana is a lot more safer than Nigeria) They should also solve insecurity and not use the whole shit as a means to play politics. Bokoharam and Herdsmen are some of the things the Obasanjo and any american administration would have been able to flush out. but it's taking the Major General two terms and he doesn't even do anything about it. our sons are still being sent to die. Now Isis is involved.
all these nonsense talk and they don't see what's really ruining the country; insecurity and erratic power supply.

My question is that we were inundated with how much the past governments earned but were not told how much has accrued to the present government since they came to power in 2015. Or could it be they didn't earn anything? We can only do a fair assessment of each government if we know no the level of money earn with the level of corresponding development recorded. I am sure, when we do that we will discover that this government is only good at pointing finger, they are as horrible and wasteful as their predecessors they seek to vilify...
let's do a fair judgement then.

Jonathan was producing 2million barrels per day and sold for $150 per barrel.

After destruction on oil installations, and fall in oil price
Buhari was producing 800k per day and sold for $50 per barrel.

Now do the maths.
2million X 150=

Compare that to
800k X 50=
And u will see the the past administration robbed us, you should not be blind cos u hate PMB
