Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has approached the university in Nigeria to be progressively proactive in guaranteeing that their graduates are employable.

He said numerous Nigerian graduates were being depicted as unemployable by some employers of labour, saying this was troubling to his system.

Buhari expressed this at the 31st Convocation of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, on Saturday.

As stated by him, the present system thought about training as the foundation of national improvement with universities as the zenith of education, "being the engine of knowledge generation and dissemination."

He stated, "In the present globalized education economy in which the riches, key significance and positioning of any nation in the comity of countries is resolved to a great extent by its knowledge economy list, my desire is that our universities will utilize the instrumentality of their tripartite standards of teaching, research and network commitment to develop Nigeria into a fortunate situation among countries of the world.

"In such manner, government anticipates that Nigerian universities should deliver graduates pervaded with the essential information, capabilities, frames of mind, and abilities to be dynamic job players as we continue looking for financial and mechanical advancement.

"I anticipate that universities should give genuine consideration to their standard not exactly complimentary appraisal of the alumni of our universities by bosses of work. Certainly, we can not be agreeable when results of our strongholds of learning are being depicted as 'unemployable', showing absence of occupation availability.

Buhari noticed that issues of graduate employability and aptitudes are appropriate issues picking up pulling forces broadly and universally and are unmistakable on the front burners of talk on advanced education and the fate of work.

In his comments, the Vice-Chancellor of the college, Prof Joseph Fuwape, encouraged the graduating understudies to stay engaged and persevering so as to possess the prime places of administration in the nation.

But on another plane bubu is right our educational system is stupid we are only taught definition not praticalisation . But wait isn't he the president ? He can change it if he wishes to , he is just all bark and no bite . Nigeria is in for a long run of ....... I should keep quiet before the zombs come for my head .

Many will find bubu's request to Universities hard to stomach but anyone who has had the opportunity for foreign education would understand that our education system is designed to oppress Nigerians and keep us blind lest our eyes open and we ask who killed our fathers. Pity religion too promotes this ignorance by making the eating of the fruits of trees of knowledge a sin and boko haram

Time, though, will resolve this as individual ignorance reduces as more attend the Nairaland University right here.

This is true to some extent, many youths now have irrelevant skills not the relevant skill that will put food on their tables or make them become employable. They can talk about Ronaldo and Messi biographies and all about their families and girl friends ever dated, but can never say anything satisfactory about professions that will put food on their tables. They run after Davido and Bunaboy, but never care much about their own future. 85% of university and polytechnic graduates in this country are potential unemployable youths after NYSC. Many of them have laptops only to watch video, listen to useless music, play games, do yahoo-yahoo and socialize. Nothing more! Academic research is alien to them. They only believe in graduating and blame government for their woes when karma begins to knock their doors and ask them how they spent their time in tertiary intutitions; they will be blaming buhari, blaming jonathan and so on like their fore fathers did before they went their ways.

Very soon they would convince you the youths are responsible for lack of electricity.

The youth of every country watches soccer, listens to music etc that is not an excuse for the level of unemployment. You sound like in developed countries the youths don't have fun?

Let any govt institution declare a job opening for 20 applicants and 10,000 would apply, I think our youths are actually very sick and traumatized, you included sir
