If the Ijebus, Egbas, Awori or even the Eguns call themselves Yorubas, who are we to say they aren't? If Ogori-Mangogo or Itshekiri say they aren't Yorubas, who are we to say they must be Yorubas?

YOU CAN'T DETERMINE THE IDENTITY of the Ikwerre people, only the Ikwerres can determine who they are or want to be.

2) Ngwas and Ezza people, even though have no ancestral relationships with Nri have chosen to be identified as Igbo, so be it. However if Ikwerres, Etche and Ekpeye say they don't want to be Igbos, so be it.

3) Examples of related tribes, declaring to be different different tribes occur all over the world.


Ibibios, Efiks and even Annang are actually different dialects of the same language but because there's no acceptable unifying name, they are regarded as different tribes.

You are just contradicting yourself, ikwere is an igboid subgroup just like many igboid subgroup we have in delta and ebonyi , that's the point, ikwere have their root in Igbo


Are you telling me the ijebus are not Yoruba cause the speak a different dialect ? Are you telling me the Aworis and Eguns who are the original owners of Lagos are not Yoruba cause the speak a different dialect? All of this tribes have their roots in Yoruba, there is a difference between a tribe and ethnic group,
