1 Cor 7:5 is a proof that sex should be frequent, it helps guard us against falling into sexual temptation. Yet, we fail to focus on the one time it is permissible to mutually decide not to have sex: When you have decided to devote yourself to prayer and fasting, for a time, you MAY decide, MUTUALLY, to also refrain from sex. The key words here are MAY and MUTUALLY. If it's not mutually agreed on, dear spouse you can carry on with your fast and have sex, there will be no disconnection from God.
