Egosi Town is an ancient Kingdom which is located in Oko Ero Local Government of Kwara State. This community has being in existance as far back as during the communal war between tribes and ethnic groups in Nigeria.

Oral history has it that, during the war three kingdoms decided to come together as one and also to form a formidable army and so on. Ilofa, Egosi and Imode finally became one.

The three kingdoms left their original territory and decided to move closer to each other. We had that both kingdoms fetched small amount of sand from their main location and decided to mixed all together, this is to makes it difficult for the kingdoms to identify their soil and its serves as a sign of covenant

Due to their relationship they were able to defend their territories, build social amenities together and all they could achieved. It's not possible for strangers to differentiate their languages as it so close. They also have common rich cultures and believes system.

In the 90s, (not sure of the date) when issues begin to arise (land related issues and other related matters) Ilofa, Imode and Egosi decided to go their own separate ways for peace to reign.

And i think this is what gave birth to Egosi Ile! The Egosi Ile people decided to maximise their abandoned land by building morden schools, hospital, modern palace, the building of one of the notably bank in Africa, settlements and many other amenities.

EGOSI ILE IS NOW THE FAST GROWING COMMUNITY IN OKE ERO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

They now call the new community EGOSI ILE and the old community EGOSI OJA. ILE means HOME while OJA means MARKET. I so much love the names because it's gives a wonderful and historical meaning.

EGOSI OJA is still being occupy by the people of egosi kingdom, as the place is part of their historical values and i believe they would not want it to be erased by anyone and this is all they have to show as their long historical age.

EGOSI KINGDOM has boundaries with Ilofa, Imode, Ayedun and i think Omu Aran

Remarkably, the community has independently initiated various projects, significantly elevating its stature within the Oke-Ero LGA, surpassing neighboring communities in development.

Traditional Egosi cuisine features delicacies like Ekuru, Eka, Iyan, and numerous other specialties.

The Egosi Kingdom comprises of compounds such as Oke-Aro, Oke-Esa, Ele-Abisi, Okorun, Ile-Ogbonja and several others. Remarkably, each of these compounds annually contributes both financially and in kind, driving the progress of Egosi Kingdom, thereby reducing the necessity for government involvement.

Beyond the established compounds within the community, there exist educated indigenous individuals from Egosi Ile and community organizations like the Egbe Akurubebe, and many important stakeholders in fostering community development.

Within the Egosi Community, you encounter adherents of traditional religions, Christianity, and the Islamic faith, all practicing their respective beliefs harmoniously.
