The traditional Ijaw marriage process begins with the introduction called ware ogiga gbolo which loosely translates to knocking. On a previous visit, the suitor would have let the bride’s parents know of his intention to marry their daughter. He would be presented with a list on this first visit. The list will contain the things he and his kin will come with on the day of the introduction.
