PlayerMeji: Even if Lagos state government roll out 100 bus it won't solve half of the problem. The population in Lagos is just too much. |

uche87: The reason for increased traffic is not down to the ban on Okada but rather due to the simultaneous road works going on all over lagos. Awolowo road, ikoyi, gbagada expressway and Magodo but to name a few are having extensive road works. On the gbagada expressway only two lanes out of 5 are available. |

PlayerMeji: Abuja has a poor transport system. The buses in Abuja are very few. I doubt if the El Rufai buses on Abuja roads are up to 50. Abuja will collapse the day private cars stop to carry passengers. |

Organs: Let me educate you a little, 1. I am a lagosian, (lagos born) 2. Majority of those boys from the north coming to lagos are victims of crisis. 3. The mentality of an average northerners towards education must change for them to have sustainable development. Therefore to your question on dangote, I am not disputing the fact that he has created a lot of employment to our teaming youths in lagos and northerners are not left out, I hope you know. My emphasis is on how the cabals/politicians in the north are leaving fat on government funds while there people are dying of starvation and lack of basic education, you may want to argue on the arrival of boko haram in recent years, but no, the problem with the north has been there before boko haram came into existence, you may also want to argue further that boko haram insurgency is as a result of the fallout of the war in libia, And I say no, going by the popular saying:"An idle hand is the devils workshop " 1 Like |

Kingrexyl: A lot of Nigerians are working their hands to the bones to make ends meet. How many people will government compensate? How many would government give jobs? There has been ban on importation of some goods and that has affected a lot of importers; how would government compensate those categories? 1 Like |

Organs: And you think dangote will ever think of locating most of his investments in the north, when security is not certain. My dear, when the north is ready to take developmental issues seriously in the north, they will do it on there own, not expecting an outsider to come and find solutions. And you now expect lagos to accommodate the fallout of insecurity issues that was created by your greedy leaders in the north? Please think about it very well. Check out roads in lagos today and see the decency it wears. Mind you, other states are also looking in that direction to ban okadas. Just wait and see how things unfold. 1 Like |

friday2011: Let me educate you as well. Nigerians migrate to USA, Europe and canada because of the rot and decay in the country. Most Nigerians are now settled abroad because of the enabling environment that it provides. Yes, i agree the Govt, States, LGA's as well as the private sector needs to do a lot for those Nigerians left behind. You have them in all cities, and all States. The population of the North is just more. There are lots of agberos in lagos, that are jobless and uneducated. They are a huge menace. Stop pointing finger to the North only. You have so many igbos coming into lagos and are under the tutelege of a master trading in spare parts, pharmacy, provisions etc. Now, most of those pharmacy are selling fake drugs. Now do you close all pharmacies or you regulate them? You need to create enabling environment for those coming in and those that cannot fit in will be quickly arrested and jailed, that is how society works and grows and not exclusion like the BS ure saying while pointing finger or raiding igbos and dropping them off in Asaba after the bridge. Also, understand that what comes around goes around, The North can also expel none indigenes for whatever reason. |

payperpost: Arrogance, hate, finger pointing. That was what you and some other Nigerians said about Ghanians and drove them out in the 90's. Today, Ghanian universities are better than Nigerian univ and they have a better economy than we do. You need to be careful how you label people and how you point fingers, some of this is due to our incompetence. 1 Like |

Lagos transports are too compressed to one area, that is why the traffic jam is so enormous. Let the city disperse itself through rail links, sub ways, inter-city buses, water ferry, etc and watch the traffics reduce. But currently, the ban on okada and maruwa is not proportionate to the available means of transport. 1 Like |

NanaF: Are you listening to the dumb mad people sitting in one corner in a village and making postulations about things they know nothing about. You can take a look at Google maps and just skim through VI and axis and see the thick red lines showing heavy non moving traffic and this has been like this since the start of the week. Yeah prior you might have slight traffic here and there but this is kind of unprecedented in recent times. 1 Like |

Organs: And the rot and decay in the country is caused by who? You and I know for sure the north has contributed so little to the development of this country and the same north have done more damage to the security, integrity and well being of this country. Some of the boko haram fighters are not nigerians, the power drunk leaders of the north knows this fact, a northern government that's sensitive to security issues should have done something about the porous borders with chad, niger and the rest, instead they continue collecting there security allocations from the central government and keep sending there families and relatives abroad to enjoy and school, forgetting that one day, posterity will catch up. The security issues in the north: Is it political? YES, It is, Then why is it political, Because of selfish interests as they never for once wish them well, why will they invest in education, when they know that once elections come, they will not be able to manipulate there mostly gullible and illiterate northern electorate. Please ask yourself the following questions? -The boys coming to lagos from the north (mostly) and other parts of the country in there large numbers, how did they get money so quick to get this motorcycles they use for okada/or they quickly gained the trust of higher purchase vendors? -Do you know the rate of accidents that involves this guys on a daily basis? -Do you know because of there educational level, they hardly understand and read road/traffic signs which at the end lead to accidents? (i have experienced it, it was just God that saved me, the aboki and the innocent girl she carry that day would have been crushed to death) -Do you know this boys are involved in so many criminal activities in the locals? You mentioned regulations, pls what type of regulations are you taking about? -they should work in the afternoon and not work in the morning? -Or they should work at night and not work in the afternoon, Common. You also mentioned nigerians moving abroad, yes, -Do they go there to constitute nuisance? -Do they go there to break their laws? -Do they go there without valid ID's? -Do they go there without valid documentations? That is where lagos is heading to and I believe all other forward looking states are also taking a quee from the developments in lagos. The LSG has done the right thing and it will remain like that, who ever is not happy about it should go back to his/her village and farm. Afterall, the government never said go back to your respective states. A cleaner and decent lagos is what we want. "Eko o ni baje" (lagos no go spoil) |
