I see the Supreme Court reversing itself.

That's the only way they can fall back in line and get the nations trust again.

Nigerians would be very happy to see it happening.

Did they goof in Bayelsa's judgement?
I think this comparison makes no sense, it's like the proverbial Apples to Oranges comparison.

Is Tanko a judge, someone that didn't pass through the NBA,

It's like claiming to be a Bsc holder without passing Waec and Jamb,

The worst thing that happened to the judiciary is having an outdated Fulani illiterate at the helm of affairs, that Man is worst than HIV virus, ebola and corona virus.
Who told you he didn't pass through the NBA. Go read his CV before acting stupidily

Long read bur worth reading . Hope Uzodimma should step aside. At least, he can be named as one of the governors of Imo State.

Oputa is truly Socrates of Nigerian law. Correct mistakes and don't preserve them. It cost more to do the later.

I like the way this write-up is long, so that the lazy, empty-skull nairaland noisemaking ignoramuses will keep off. SUPREME COURT JUST SHOWED THE LEVEL OF DECAY N INCOMPETENCE OF THE JUDGES IN THIS CASE. IF TANKO WAS GOOFING, WHY DIDNT THE REST DISSENT? ALAS IT WAS A UNANIMOUS DECISION. ALL WAS AFRAID TO DISSENT. OUR JUDICIARY IS GONE.

Once the Supreme Court has entered judgment in a case, that decision is final and will remain so for ever. The law may in future be amended to affect future issues on the same subject, but for the case decided, that is the end of the matter.

Nigeria is an error, and everything that happend in it has been error, and some people have chosen to preserve the error. This is not how a country is built. Justice should be given whenever the truth is discovered. We have preserved errors in our national systems far too long.

And whats your take on the fact that the Apex court has imposed on the good people of Bayelsa state, a person they've found not worthy of being their governor?
Stop being sentimental. You should be clamouring for the prosecution of multi Degi.

The imo state election issue going back for review is a low hanging fruit for the lifeless Sudanese to shore up his badly barttered image, but like the empty skull he is, he would choose the ignoble role.

I won't say he's not worthy. He came second, that means he's just not the most preferred.

If he's not worthy at all, he'll probably come last.
Re: How Imo Governorship Election Verdict Generates Judicial Crisis by Bennycollins: 4:36pm On Feb 15, 2020
The facts of these cases are very clear. Dispassionately, they goofed in Imo, and did not in Bayelsa. There is both electronic and hard data on accredited voters, number of valid votes cast etc. These were not put into consideration and the figures donot add up. The deed has been done already with the conivance of the Inec, anyway. The Inec 'played ball' by not tendering vital evidence in Ihedioha's favour. it is a job from the top.
For the Bayelsa case, forgery was established right from the trial court up to the supreme court to only affirm. The faulty laws of Nigeria which donot separate a running mate from his principal helped the Pdp here.

Does it mean that if SC condems a person to death, and later new evidences exonerating the person comes up, there will be no review of the case? In this case the SC was looking at the time line of concluding the election matters and gave the judgement. Therefore, overlooked interrogation of evidences provided by Uzodinma. Now the timeline is met, but with wrong judgement, the aggrieved is at liberty to seek for judicial reveiw. Let wait and see what next.

Are we still talking about this?

Hasn't a new scandal been created by Mary Odili for sacking a duly elected Governor on account of the sin of another, using the wackiest argument?

Deputy Governors can and have been deposed by States Houses of Assembly for various reasons, and the governors remain unaffected.

If the roles are thus separated, one wonders why in this case they're suddenly conflated as one.

Maybe when next a governor dies, his deputy too should immediately be put to death.

Did you even read the write-up?! The two cases are quite different. In fact the Imo case is quite different from all the other cases. Imo is the only case where Supreme Court actually aided and abetted fraud and rigging. And I think it is quite intentional and that the judgment was pre-determined. Kudos Racoon for the detailed explanation
