chivera018: Now listen, marriage is built on mutual understanding, two couples living together happily and in peace have reached a certain level in which they have understood each other perfectly. Now to your question, there's nothing wrong if a husband decides to take the plate to the kitchen but you making it look like it's a mandatory thing to do just because you visited your sister and noticed her husband do it and even washing the plate is wrong, be guided and understand that people are not thesame, I have seen husband's who even help thier wives in the kitchen and more but it doesn't mean that it's all men/husbands that can do it. Be guided and if you feel it's a must that a husband must do it just as your question sounded then you can as well remain in your parents house and decide not to get married because we are tired of hearing wife's killing thier husbands cos of little things. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Gloriagee: Have you ever been to Benin republic, you're here saying advance country. For your information, in the so called advanced country which I myself have been opportuned to visit their women cook and serve their husbands. In areas where the wife is a career woman, she hires a nanny/cook and pays her from her own purse. Cos she knows it's her responsibility. The problem with you girls is that you're much better as girlfriends than wifes. A girlfriend would wash her guys clothes, cook for him, keep him company...etc. but the moment he upgrades her to a wife it becomes a tug of war who does what and who doesn't do what. Do you know why many men cheat on their wives it's because their side chick knows the role the wife is supposed to play and is fully aware that she's (the wife) isn't playing it. So she capitalizes on that error, illfitrates the home and wins the husband over to her side. So please spare me the crap of advance country bullshit. If you're not ready to be a wife to a man you married, the be prepared to share him with someone who's ready to give him what you're too arrogant to offer. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

uboma:My dear it's not about pride, women are opportunists in nature. Some years back where I used to live, there a neighbour friend of mine weeds the compound whenever the grasses over grow and he's chanced....his house shared a fence with mine. His wife's two younger sisters were staying with them, what brought a very serious quarrel one morning was when one of the wife's sister decided to trim the grasses. The wife bluntly told her to return back the Cutlass that it's the job of the husband. Unfortunately the man heard it and that statement made him mad. I had to calm him down when he told me about the incident. Many women these days behave like fools, the day you engage in any domestic role is the day they'll automatically assign that role to you. So the rule of the thumb is to concentrate on your own role and she hers. Unless your wife is an angel, then you can choose to assist and be rest assured that she appreciate your efforts rather than convert it to a role for you. 3 Likes 1 Share |

CrazyMan:Isn't it the job of the husband before? Was he expecting a female tractor to clear his bushes? You men of indomie generation will always dish out hogwash and your self entitlements when it comes to women being the domestic slaves, but can't take it when the same favour is returned to you. Didn't the man have the opportunistic nature when he expects the wife to go to work, cook, clean, take of the house and baby? Simple cutting of the grass, and he's vibrating. 9 Likes |

You're right that I've never been to Benin republic but that does not detract from the fact that its really no biggie dropping your plates after eating. Your wife is not a substitute for a maid and FYI the antidote for side chicks is raising your kids to be independent so u don't base your choice of a wife on how wifey material-ish the girl is. Las Las, as you rightly said the great girlfriends are not so great wives, maybe cos they were pretending. CrazyMan: 1 Like |

Snipper007:I will never ever marry any man who thinks carrying the plate he used in eating to the kitchen will make him less of a man. He should also wait for me to clean his butts after using the toilet. And if I decide to stay single it doesn't necessarily mean i would be in my parents house. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Dande55:Next time read and understand before hitting the reply button it won't cost you anything. The man wasn't complaining about weeding the grasses. His annoyance was his own wife bluntly telling her sister to return back the Cutlass cos the job clearly belongs to the man. Wisdom is what preserves a home, any woman that lacks it would end up destroying her family with her own foolishness. |

What kinda very silly n frustrated topic is this one Bikonu , is it every question u people will bring on nairaland n ask. Can't ur common sense teach u certain things. It is useless questions like this that makes both sexes bitter n start getting funny ideas, all these rubbish topics u people post here just build up unnecessary anger inside n leads to very stupid gender wars. Don't worry someone will soon come and ask whether it's the husband or wife that should put salt n Maggi when the food is on the fire n u people will still argue over it. RUBBISH. I think in my own opinion it has to do with who is the breadwinner.I cant be waking up by 5am, rush to work, come back by 7pm and I will still go n warm food, dish my food n wash my plates after eating when my wife is at home, except on occasions when she is pregnant, sick, tired or I have enough strength. As for me I, there are certain things I can't do. Roles should be spelt out. My wife cannot go and on gen, she can't go n fill gas, she can't pay some bills like my childrens school fees, house rent, electricity bills etc The moment a woman starts doing all these and a man starts washing plates everyday n cooking, just know there is no man in the house. 1 Like |

Gloriagee:There is more to marriage than who clears up the dishes. When you genuinely love someone all these irrelevant things would mean nothing. Cos there are more serious and pressing issues that needs attention in the home than dishes. And yes most great girlfriends make terrible wives....and for the record, I'm not married. 1 Like 1 Share |

As men of the house, you’re supposed to provide for all the family without any excuses. The needs and the wants plus extra. If your wife needs a car, u must get it. If your wife needs money for maintenance you’re supposed to give plus excesss. But most men are struggling to perform their manly duties and are even relying on their wives salary to survive. Does this mean that wives are entitled to side men? Boyfriends on the side? The truth is that most of you place unrealistic expectations on your other half, and when things are not done your way, you complain bitterly. It’s emotional immaturity. And people like you should seriously not get married, because you’ll be highly disappointed. Nobody is going to kneel down and serve your food to you, especially when you’re not transferring millions to their account monthly. Get a grip. CrazyMan: 6 Likes |
