Some people have made misleading and erroneous statement about the Tiv man culture, stating that the Tiv man give out his wife to his visitor.
They do so not because of their bias against the Tiv people but also because they lack adequate source of information about the truth in Tiv culture.
A Tiv man generally is hospitable, loving and caring. He take everyone as his own, this explain the fact why a Tiv man left his matrimonial bed for his visitor to feel comfortable and at home, while to some tradition once a man allows another to sleep on his matrimonial bed is a permission to share his wife. Abomination!
Fundamentally, if a Tiv man caught his wife with another man in bed, he damage one part of her body which mostly was an ear, eye and finger to remained her in her entire life that she is an adulterous woman, a shame to womanhood. It was until the coming of Christianity in the land in 1911 that the tradition went silent.
Can a man that went to such extent allow his visitor to share his wife in bed? No.
Generally, a Tiv man loves and respect his wife and he see her as his crown of glory and can't allow another man to share her with him
