NkemjikaX: Money for fee education and healthcare does not come from Santa Claus... You grow your economy to generate taxes/revenue to invest in infrastructure - if the politicians do not steal it (and citizens pay their taxes). > 1 Like 1 Share |

[quote author=saaron post=87145972]If Biafra were independent nation from 1966 to date, the country will be dragging economic might with Asian tigers like China, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia etc, not South Africa. Biafra would have launch Africa positively on the world map as a black economy powerhouse. A people that could organized themselves to manufacture Amoured tanks and spectacular weapons from scratch to hold Nigeria for 3 good years to the amazement of America and Europe shows the ability and ingenuity of Biafrans. Biafra would have join the like of America and Russia as major arms suppliers in the world! Now imagine them channeling that same energy and spirit to develop their country economically? The black race would have gain more respect today. But because of the virus of One Nigeria, that reality was dashed - (but not forever, Biafra will raise again). Nigeria is nothing but a glorified village. A country cursed with mediocrity, terrorism, quota system, and the ''Put them down Syndrome.'' Nigeria can't even boast of a world class city. Countries like Ivory Coast have better and well developed cities than Nigeria. The fact that the God forsaken country is even struggling economically with South Africa is a big shame because Nigeria's economy was on the same level with South Korea in 1960. Today South Korea is not only competing with China, the country has world class companies competing with the likes of Apple and General Mottors of America! And we here celebrating mediocrity. What's the benefit of being Africa's largest economy when we can't even manufacture pencils? Does Nigeria have a functional steel company? How can Nigeria become an industrial manufacturing hub when common Abeokuta steel complex is in shambles? Nigeria is nothing but a failed state! South Africa's economy, as it is even in recession is still by far more robust and developed in manufacturing, service industry, commerce, power, infrastructure than Nigeria. Remove crude oil from the country's economy and Nigeria will disappear from the world map! Total division of Nigeria is the only way out of this perennial economic calamity that is Nigeria. ONE NIGERIA IS DEAD! [/quote Stop assuming, Oga. There is always greed behind the plans of most African leaders. So, as far as I'm concerned, if Biafra had successfully seccided as you stated, they could have as well still be fighting against one another. There could probably have been a rebel group within Biafra fighting the government and killing the people. This is Black Africa!!! 4 Likes 1 Share |

Area4Area: All of you will just argue over figures that have no impact on the lives of ordinary Nigerians. Ok, how has that impacted Nigerians positively? Are there more jobs? Are you now paying less for more? Do your children now have free access to standard education, health, security of your lives and property? By the way, how prepared are you to fight terrorists calling themselves cattle breeders? Wake up and stop defending a failed Buhari. 1 Like |

nameo: Yeah, having the idea of the price of crude oil in 2014 which Nigeria's economy is based on actually says it all. It was on a year high of $108/barrel compared with the price of oil right now (the highest we've had between 2015 to date is 66/barrel apart from 2018 it went up briefly to 71. With those figures if you play around with the numbers the way bloomberg analysts always do, then you can actually say the country grew I am not a fan of nominal growth but rather absolute. All these largest economy things in Africa are just bullsh^t when 95% of the economy is being controlled by by about 2% of the population and the remaining 5% is what the rest 98% of the population is struggling with. 1 Like |

nanauju:Go and read up your economics, if the naira should become 150 naira to a dollar today, our GDP nominal may become between $700-800 billion and if it it becomes 1000 naira to the dollar, it may go between $150-200 billion or lower sef but the GDP PPP is not changed and that's why economists prefer using the GDP PPP today 3 Likes 1 Share |

Rossinnki:How does that bogus claim translate to an individual's daily economic lifestyle? Those angling to secede are doing so because people like you have refused to allow Justice, Equity and fair Competition which are the traits of progressive nations to have a firm root in Nigeria. Nigeria would be better as one country when these traits are allowed but will be best as a balkanized nation, if stronger nations with futuristic plans for her citizens will emerge therefrom. Those who are feeding from Nigeria's stagnation want her remain the same since 1960. And those people hate to hear the word ''restructuring'' because they're born naturally lazy and unproductive. |

9jaRealist: You guys are being misled, Nigeria cost of production per goods is very high, poor electricity and unfavorable business climate... Tell me how it's nominal GDP will be high, more still, the rate of import is astronomical.... Where the hell are you guys getting the big economy from, is it MTN or Glo, communication industry that is even eating from the per capital income. Ever heard of media manipulation by government? |

Area4Area: Lol, do not blame them.... the mind is a terrible thing. It can think up-side-down if left unchecked. Most people who wish Nigeria bad actually have no responsibility or have no assets to protect or have nothing to lose. In their mind; make everything scatter! Area4Area: It "determines" FG's expenditure to a large extent (not 100%), but NOT the GDP... In fact, in some quarters, the oil sector has even declined while the overall GDP grew. > 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Rossinnki:The GDP you read about comes 98% from the South. Northern Nigeria is a waste of space and should as a matter of urgency be carved out from the rest of Nigeria. Northern Nigeria contributes nothing but poverty, disease, religious extremism, terrorism and violence. Yes Nigeria needs to be divided |
